OK kids, it's a beautiful morning for a chat, so get your coffee and we'll get started in about 10 min
9:59
OK, let's get started...go!!

When you think about it, MT's desire to see both QBs makes perfect sense given that both or either will be gone next year. Even if they were 6-0, no?
Gerry Dulac

To your point, it was also time to see the one QB they brought in for one specific reason -- and that was to do better than they have been doing the last seven years in the postseason. That's why they brought in RW. And it was time to set it in motion.

I wish I felt the the other way, but it appears Queen was a miss. LB is a position of instincts more than anything, Wilson is case in point. He is all over the place. Am I wrong?
Gerry Dulac
10:01
You are totally wrong. He is all over the place -- making and disrupting plays

Hey Gerry! Is there something that Tomlin’s seeing in Broderick’s growth that we as fans aren’t seeing? He said yesterday that he likes his improvement, but we keep seeing mistakes week after week.
Gerry Dulac
10:02
I guess he's improving on his mistakes

Do you envision the team making any trades before the deadline on 11/5? Thanks!
Gerry Dulac
10:02
I won't rule it out, let's put it that way

Hindsight is Hubble-esque, but would you have let Ben play another year....he wanted to....rather than be shopping for a QB in a record thin draft where only two were chosen in close to the first 100 picks?
Gerry Dulac
10:03
You know what they say about hindsight. Unfortunately, life isn't a dress rehearsal

No one talks about the job Waitmann
Gerry Dulac
10:03
You don't have to finish...I agree

Good Morning Mr. Dulac.  Love the Wednesday's and the chats.   The offense looked much better.  And for a least one week, the coach was right.  Is it time to admit that sometimes the coaches know more about what is best for this team than the fans?
Gerry Dulac
10:05
Hey Dave, it's not only time, it has been WAAAAY past time. The coaches know more than me, you and everyone else in the chat, and have for a long time. And will continue to. This is their living. They spend more time watching film and game-planning than we do breathing. And nobody watches more film than Mike Tomlin, trust me

No one talks about the job waitman has done. Do you think he’ll be around next year or will they go back to Johnston?
Gerry Dulac
10:05
Ok, Pat, now I got the second part of your point....I think Cam will be back next year unless his injury is too serious to recover that quickly. It was not a good injury

Good Morning Mr. Dulac. If the QB play continues as we witnessed last Sunday, what final piece is needed to really make a run come January?
Gerry Dulac
10:06
That's what we're going to find out -- and what the Steelers are going to find out. That's another reason why they wanted to get Wilson in there now -- to find out where they might be lacking

Goog Morning Gerry!  Pickens lived up to his elite receiver status on Sunday and his chemistry with Wilson looks great. Should we be worried about him still? Is he another "diva WR" like AB, Claypool, Bryant and Burress who are only happy when things go 100% their way? I hope not.
Gerry Dulac
10:07
I don't know that you ever take the diva out of a diva WR

Is there a reason why Tomlin won’t use both QBs in different packages? I know it’s college vs pros, but a number of college teams use multiple QBs and it works well to get different looks. Thanks G!
Gerry Dulac
10:07
This is the NFL, and it stands for Not For Long if you continue to employ two QBs

10:14
Does Mike Tomlin really think teams are going to believe when he’s not definitive in naming a starter?
Gerry Dulac
10:14
Probably not
DJ DeFrehn
10:14
Do you think we’ll see some Justin Fields packages this week?
Gerry Dulac
10:14
I thought we might see some last week

Rocco won a few weeks back. I'm still not over his losing to Tiger at Torrey in 19 playoff holes. Is that one of the saddest golf outcomes you covered?
Gerry Dulac
10:15
Sad is not the word, but maybe disappointing. And good for him winning again. That's six times on PGA Tour, four times on Champions Tour

You consistently defer many judgements “until the games that matter” and avoid addressing excessive hypotheticals. At this particular point in the season, in your valued evaluation are the Steelers progressing properly to be legitimate contenders in the 2nd half of the season and into the playoffs? What’s their Achille’s Heel, or a controllable weakness (e.g. excluding injuries) too few people are talking about? (much appreciate your time with these chats!)
Gerry Dulac
10:17
They are definitely progressing in the right direction, or, as Mike Tomlin likes to say, the arrow is definitely pointing up. Injuries are always the major factor -- just ask the 49ers, Tampa Bay and a few others. I think whatever weaknesses they might have will be determined after the byue when the schedule gets rougher.
DJ DeFrehn
10:17
Is Roman Wilson officially in the doghouse?
Gerry Dulac
10:18
No, he's in the house that takes in rookies who missed all of training camp and the preseason and are so far behind they can't catch up
Oscar
10:18
Does Tomlin/Khan really feel comfortable with this WR room? Outside of Pickens there really isn’t a threat and multiple other teams are making moves that really aren’t high prices. Just curious as to why we haven’t upgraded there yet.
Gerry Dulac
10:19
Like....the 2-5 Jets? The Browns were never going to trade Amari Cooper to a division team. Who else you got??
DJ DeFrehn
10:19
Why do the Steelers continue to pass on able bodied WR’s who are traded for a fair price and in the case of Hopkins the Titans are eating a lot of salary.
Gerry Dulac
10:19
Did you ever stop to think they don't want Hopkins?
Tim
10:19
Does Najee get signed to a new deal after the season or do you see the front office moving on with warren and company?
Gerry Dulac
10:20
That's the million dollar question Tim. I would suspect they will try to sign him, but they are not going to break open the vault to do so. That does not make financial sense in today's NFL
