OK kids, sorry for the delay. Let's get going....Fire away!
Jim
11:23
Did Bush come back too soon after his injury? He seems to be a shell of what he was before the knee gave out.
Gerry Dulac
11:24
Well, depends what you mean by too soon. He was cleared physically to play, which means he can. But, with ACL injuries, it always takes a full year before a player returns to full health. And I don't think Bush will be his old self till 2022, to be honest

Gerry - Pick up the 5th year option on 55?
Gerry Dulac
11:25
It's not that time yet
Nick
11:25
Hi Gerry, you are my favorite chat moderator. You deserve a big raise! When Ben Calls 2-20 just before the snap of the football, isn't that like a give away for defense that the snap is coming? I don't get how that works. Also when Ben taps his helmet with both hands before the snap, is it communicating to offence that it is going to be pass or back up play? Again why wouldn't the defense catch that? I remember at one time Manning used to call Omaha. What would that be about?
Gerry Dulac
11:27
They use all kind of different pre-snap signals that change from game to game so the defense can't catch on. I don't hear what he calls because I'm not listening on TV. In Manning's case, he made up that name. QBs do that all the time. They are "dummy" calls and nothing else, just to make the defense wonder

Morning Gerry, If this secondary  tackling fiasco continues would we see Karl Joseph get some snaps? He has to be a better option than Edmunds at this point.
Gerry Dulac
11:27
Hey, Edmunds has actually been OK. Haden and Fitzpatrick had tackling issues as well the other day and I don't think you will see them replaced.
Utah Jim

OG is likely to top priority next year. Is DL a close second? All they have is Hayward and an unreliable, except last year, Tuitt.
Gerry Dulac
11:27
I think you are very perceptive.

While some of the PG writers want to focus on what is wrong with our Steelers, i choose to look at the positive on Sunday night regarding our young team and their contributions.  Najee and his all purpose yardage, muth and his 6 receptions, green and moore improving, lowdermilk rotating in, swiss army norwood making 3 huge plays and ph3 finally showing his big leg.  Nice win and exciting future.
Gerry Dulac
11:28
Hey, they won. And I'm with you on most, if not all, of your points. Except for the "exciting future" part. We shall see.

Morning Gerry. I can’t believe Ray Ray is better than James Washington. Is JW in the doghouse or was he still hurt last week?  Need to move claypool to the slot and let JW play outside in my opinion.  Agree or no?
Gerry Dulac
11:30
Nobody said he is. But they use Ray-Ray on a lot of run plays and that's why he played a lot. Still, I don't get the eight snaps for Washington. I would if it's because he didn't practice a lot last week because of injury. But Tomlin said that wasn't the reason.

Hi Gerry - how many picks will the Steelers have in the 2022 draft after you factor in trades, their FA signings, and your best guess on compensatory picks? Thanks!
Gerry Dulac
11:30
Sorry, can't predict that right now.

Good morning Gerry.  I can understand why the Steelers need help from the safeties to stop runs.  My question is:  why can't the Steelers have both safeties line up medium depth and have one go deeper and the other head towards the line of scrimmage instead of both? Not askin' for a friend.  Thanks
Gerry Dulac
11:32
It depends on which team they are playing and how they attack with their QB and WRs. You can't do that with the Chiefs. And they didn't want to do that with the Seahawks because of Metcalf and Lockett.

I only want to say I love what you do. Thank you for being so great with your job.
Gerry Dulac
11:32
Can somebody pay her?!?!
Jim
11:32
Why does this offense look exactly like last years that we were told was going to be different? Same 3 yard passes on 4th and 9, etc.
Gerry Dulac
11:32
Time warp?
AtlantaDan
11:33
With Spillane now being substituted for Bush in dime packages, is that a leading indicator that Bush, as a first round draft choice who was envisioned to be an every down ILB who presumably could upgrade the pass defense, is not likely to have his fifth year option exercised unless his level of play improves dramatically?
Gerry Dulac
11:33
Waaaayyyy too early to make that call. Do you remember he is coming off ACL surgery? And a couple groin injuries??
Luigi
11:34
ALL those talking heads at ESPN saying that pittsburgh blew the draft   Whats your thoughts on our first two picks?
Gerry Dulac
11:34
My thoughts are they are clueless
Joe
11:34
Hi Gerry - if the Steelers determine that Tuitt will not be back this year in any meaningful way, either mentally or physically, should they make a move to shore up their interior D line to deal with the run?  CLE and BAL must be drooling at the middle of the Steelers D.  Thanks
Gerry Dulac
11:35
I think they would have done that already if they thought Tuitt was not going to be back in any meaningful way. That being said, I'm not sure he will be.
Utah Jim
11:38
Is Bush’s biggest problem the DL can’t keep him clean? I thought he was just fine and ascending with Alualu and Tuitt playing up front.
Gerry Dulac
11:38
That's a big part of it for him and Schobert
Bob V
11:38
thanks for the chat
Gerry Dulac
11:38
Of course.
Jim
11:38
It looked like Snell hurt his arm pretty bad making a special teams tackle in the Seattle game, he came off holding it. But I never heard anything about it, did you?
Gerry Dulac
11:40
Yeah he did, and no I haven't heard anything more. He did come back in the game, too, for special teams
Jim
11:40
Are we being too hard on Fitzpatrick? A safety shouldn't be asked to make all the tackles that the linebackers should have made in the first place. Agree or is his play down this year?
Gerry Dulac
11:41
His play is the same as always -- very good. They rely on him to make plays and sometimes he might try to do too much. It's funny, when he's all over the field making plays, everyone wants to compare him to Troy Polamalu. When he doesn't, people want to know what's wrong with him.
Jim
11:41
Time to sit Ebron? His blocking was atrocious in the Seattle game, I say we let Friermuth learn on the job, he has a much better upside.
Gerry Dulac
11:42
How was that game different from any other?
Miles McGuire
11:43
Hi Gerry, thank you for that chat. Why don’t the Steelers captains wear the captain patch? I feel they are the only team that doesn’t recognize the captain patch on the game day jersey.
