OK kids, we will start our chat in about 5 minutes so get your questions ready....

Ok, here we go....Fire away

Did Fehoko get any snaps on Sunday? Before the game, Austin said he was built for Steeler-Raven games, but I never heard his name mentioned.
Gerry Dulac
10:00
You didn't hear his name for good reason -- he never got into the game

Hey Gerry. Canada isn’t going anywhere in 2023 but what about the Byron Leftwich story for 2024?  Good option?
Gerry Dulac
10:01
Byron might be a good option. He was really good when Brady was the QB

Hi Gerry-  Ben and many other pundits called out the negative impacts of such a high percent of back shoulder fades.  CBS announcers noted this in game too. Do you think the root issue is 8 or WRs or Canada?
Gerry Dulac
10:02
I don't blame Canada for high fades. It's all about the execution,. and that's on the QB and WR. But I don't like the high fade a lot, either.

Gerry-  Seen very little commentary about MT’s decision on kneel downs after Watt turnover near end of game.   Would most teams run a few plays to drain more clock?
Gerry Dulac
10:03
When he was asked after the game about what happened on that sequence, all he did was shake his head and say that's on him.

Gerry -  Who returns from IR before Rams game?  Who gets cut as a result?  Will ANT be back?  Who backs Cal now as punt returner?
Gerry Dulac
10:06
Diontae Johnson expects to be back for the Rams game. Not sure about McFarland. Fehoko will go back to the practice squad. So will Rodney Williams when Freiermuth returns. 88 will be back for Rams, too. Godwin Igwebuike will go back, too, when 26 returns.

Good morning Gerry!   If the offense does not improve, and we need a “monumental effort“ out of TJ, Watt, and the defense, how many games do you see us winning this year with this formula?  It just seems to have such a small margin for error!
Gerry Dulac
10:07
You're right, it is. If that is the formula, not many. 7-8 tops. But I don't expect that to be the case all the time, though that's how they won two of their three games already.

Gerry What did you make of Canada’s bizarre reaction and the press box on the touchdown play?
Gerry Dulac
10:09
My reaction was not the same as everyone in America. Look, the Steelers just scored. His job is to see if they're going for two points and then come up with a play. He was focused on that. Everyone else in that coaches box who cheered and got excited has nothing else to do. Just him. So it was a complete over-reaction by those who think he doesn't care.

The win was the result of incredibly poor decision making by Harbaugh, multiple dropped touchdown passes by Ravens, Warren, Pickens, and some Pickett on offense, and great play down the stretch from the entire defense.  I say the win was in spite of HCMT.  Agree or disagree?
Gerry Dulac
10:10
It wasn't in spite of HCMT, as you call him. It was for the other reasons you suggested. The only thing the Ravens didn't do was put a bow on their gifts.

If the Steelers were to cut Gunner, who would be the backup punt returner to Austin?
Gerry Dulac
10:10
Not sure that's in the plan right now.

Greeting Gerry. As I watched other games and highlights from Sunday, it is beyond irrefutable that the Steelers offensive is so far behind the 8 ball compared to other teams. I love the Steelers but this is a simple fact.
Gerry Dulac
10:11
You are simply correct. Though I will give them credit for three "explosive-play" TDs of 72, 71 and 41 yards already this season. You know their longest TD last season? 31 yards.

National media praises Tomlin but is quick to question belichick. Tomlin is no where near the coach belichick is. Thoughts?
Gerry Dulac
10:11
The records speak for themselves. Doesn't need a debate

Would firing Canada mid-season really make much difference?  They’d still have the same basic offense.
Gerry Dulac

Hold your cards!!

10:12
Hey Gerry - Why would you not want to bring in someone like Leftwich now to help add some extra eyes and ideas to an offense that clearly needs it... help me make sense of this.
Gerry Dulac
10:13
Look, they're not going to add coaches during the season. Who does that? BTW, whatever happened to Glenn Thomas??
Burghfan007
10:13
Hi Gerry, Why does this team continue to use the sideline inside 10-15 yards from the line of scrimmage? I can understand throwing down the sideline 20-30 yards downfield where the sideline is an advantage to the WR against the defensive back, but using it inside of 10-15 yards actually gives the defense an extra defender (the sideline)?
Gerry Dulac
10:14
That is correct. And it is maddening

I have accepted that the Steelers will never win another Super Bowl under Tomlin.  I've also accepted that he will keep his job as long as he wants regardless of performance.  I'm just concerned how long it will take to recover once the change happens.  He hasn't gotten much out of any first round picks not named TJ in over a decade.  The culture has turned into a me first, selfish group.  The team has become predictable and soft.  How long did you think it will take post-Tomlin to recover from all of this and become a contender again?
Gerry Dulac

Somebody needs to find some money for this guy!!

Gerry who do you expect realistically the Steelers to target in the off-season for their inevitable vacant OC job?
Gerry Dulac
10:15
Way too early to speculate. But a good one would be a Tomlin friend -- Jon Gruden.

Gerry, I cringe every time Tomlin throws the replay flag.  Any chance this can be given to an assistant?
Gerry Dulac
10:16
Well, actually, he has an assistant in the coaches box who usually is telling him to throw the flag or not

To me it looked like Canada was looking to see if the field was clean with no penalties then relieved. Seems like a decent reaction to me; the game wasn’t over. Your thoughts?
Gerry Dulac
10:17
I told you not just my thoughts, but what was happening -- he was focused of if there was going to be a two-point play and, if so, what play was that going to be. It would have been a lot different if that was a game-ending play.

Many, including Big Ben, say Canada’s route structure is very simplistic. How does Tomlin let him get away with that? He should know what a professional offense looks like. Or is that what he wants because of the young QB? If Kenny can’t handle more complexity, which I don’t believe, he should have never been drafted in the first round.
Gerry Dulac
10:19
Why don't you believe that? And, also, it's not just Pickett is young. Some are Pickens and Calvin Austin. Maybe that has something to do with it. Now, see, there you go -- getting me to partially defend the OC.
