Ok kids, we're going to get started so fire away....

Gerry, thoughts on the Ryder Cup
Gerry Dulac

It was what I expected -- Europe had the deeper stronger squad. But, even though I knew the crowd would be rowdy, it went well beyond that. It was not a good look. Rory McIlroy is by far the most popular player in America, yet he was treated as though he were Martin Cahill

So we know that the Steelers are in "the pick business," but they also have a commanding AFC North lead. Would they trade away some pieces to build for the future, trade for players now, or shut down the phones until 2026?
Gerry Dulac
1:03
They are playing for now, not for 2026 or 2027. They'll worry about those seasons then.

Hey Gerry, any reason to believe we arent just setting ourselves up for another late season flop?
Gerry Dulac

Now THAT'S what I call living in your fears, though I understand why

Would General Manager Dulac trade Pat Friermuth after reading Reporter Dulac's recent coverage?
Gerry Dulac
1:03
Nope.

Do you suppose that Pat Freiermuth is not being targeted because he might have found himself in Rodgers' "dog house?"  A couple of dropped passes and making the wrong read on a scramble drill might have caused the QB to lose faith in him.
ANSWER: Nope

Gerry, do you think the Flacco trade will help the Bengals stay in the mix?
Gerry Dulac
1:04
I think that's what they're thinking.

Gerry-  From your catbird seat at practices and games, help Steelers Nation make sense of 88’s limited engagement in the offense season to date.
Gerry Dulac
1:07
Partly the scheme/game plan. They went with a heavy package against the Vikings and their 4-3 front to help run the ball, which they did. But that was just one game. It was also explained to me it's because they haven't been in a lot of dropback/two-minute/red-zone situations, too.

With notable individual and unit improvement in the first games, do you think the Bye was well-timed for additional meaningful progress or do you think one later in the season might've been better?
Gerry Dulac
1:07
Later would have been better

Why did they extend a tight end who can't be trusted to block 4-3 edge rushers and also can't seem to earn targets when he is on the field?
Gerry Dulac
1:08
A better question: Why not use him more?

Gerry, when do you expect Ramsey back
Gerry Dulac
1:09
It's a hamstring injury. Those are very tenuous and susceptible to recurrence. That's why Joey Porter was out as long as he was.

How do the Steelers reconcile the total yards difference between their offense and defense?  If it is solely on turnover margin, will we be seeing a repeat of the last five years?
Gerry Dulac
1:09
Here's how -- they're 3-1

Gerry  Excellent job prognosticating last week!  You picked the Europeans to win the Ryder Cup and your Steeler prediction (24 -20) was almost exact (24-21)

How can I get to Vegas??

Hi Gerry-  Does the Flacco trade move the needle at all for you in terms of thinking about a W for the Steelers vs the Browns. And vs the Bengals?
Gerry Dulac
1:10
Has nothing to do with the Browns. The Bengals? We'll see. He may not be their starter then

Gerry: how many seasons over the next decade are likely to see the Ravens start 1-4 with Lamar banged up, Burrow out for months, and the Steelers being led by a 4 time MVP in his last season?  Isn't this the year to be very aggressive in the trade market to fill obvious holes along the OL, DL, and at WR2?
Gerry Dulac
1:11
What do you think they did the in the offseason -- sat around??

Gerry: in your video with Ray, you scoffed at the suggestion of trading Friermuth, but why?  With any sort of prudent cap management, he is certain to be a cap casualty next spring.  Tomlin basically admitted yesterday that he can't do the job of a tight end against the half of the league that plays a 4-3 and the team has other TEs, but desperately needs a left tackle, a WR2, and probably another defensive lineman to make any kind of run this year.
Gerry Dulac
1:13
First off, Tomlin never said that. And I scoffed not at the reasoning, but the possibility. I don't deal in  hypotheticals.

A non-Steelers topic, but relevant to football.. How did the Steelers rate Cam Skattebo going into the draft, and is he going to run himself out on the CTE/concussion train early in his career? My relatives in upstate New York are sold on hte hype for himm and J. Dart, and I am leery of a tragic end for Cam..
Gerry Dulac

I'm not around him enough to know. But what I do see, he's a boatload of reckless energy, that's for sure

I was happy to see you hanging around in Paris Gerry! Seems like we dodged a bullet not signing Justin Fields. A lot of money paid for a tremendous physically gifted qb who does not win a lot of games
Gerry Dulac
1:14
He has won 10 of 42 games with teams who aren't the Steelers

Gerry, why rush CAII back?  Let’s see what Wilson, Miller, and Skow Dog can do.  There are also 4 really good TEs.
Gerry Dulac
1:16
Nobody is going to rush Austin back. When he's ready, he'll play. This isn't college. The Steelers aren't in the business to "see what Wilson, Miller and Show can do." And I think you are really stretching it with the 4 "really good" tight end stuff
Sal
1:16
Do you foresee a better deffensive in second quarter of the season?
Gerry Dulac
1:16
That defense I saw for 3 1/2 quarters in Ireland is going to be tough to top
