What's going on with David Anenih? Do you anticipate him getting a helmet soon?
Gerry Dulac
10:01
No, not unless 'an injury. Right now he's fortunate to have a roster spot

What is the likelihood the team trades Trubisky by the 11/1 deadline?
Gerry Dulac
10:02
As likely as them changing the name back to Heinz Field.

10:02
Are you surprised how well the OL has fared thus far?
Gerry Dulac
10:03
Well, you have heard me say many times that I'm always willing to give players and units more than one or two games, especially preseason games, before making any kind of judgement. I'm not ready to pronounce them a strength, but they've been OK

Will the team be active in acquiring talent prior to the trade deadline?
Gerry Dulac
10:03
Why?? I thought Minkah said this team had too much talent??
Guest

What would need to happen for the team to move on from Canada at the bye?
Gerry Dulac
10:03
Probably an act of Congress.

10:04
Do you think Calvin Austin will be activated in the next two weeks?
Gerry Dulac
10:05
Maybe, but I really don't think you will see him at a lot, if at all. He missed every preseason game and hasn't been able to practice since early training camp so, as a rookie, he is waaaaay behind in the offense. That's too bad too.

Are we in line to see more touches from Jaylen Warren?
Gerry Dulac
10:06
I think what you're seeing now is what you can expect. He is getting some action, and well deserved. But I don't see it increasing appreciably if Najee is healthy.

Why other coaches get the blame except for Tomlin? I don’t get it.He’s been hanging on Big Ben’s coattails!!
Gerry Dulac
10:06
Well, he doesn't have 'em anymore, so we'll see what happens

Morning GD!  Do the Steelers really believe Wormley is better than Loudermik (who they traded up for)?  This one is a head scratcher because I’ve never thought much of the worm anyway.
Gerry Dulac
10:07
I think part of it is that Loudermilk missed a lot of time, going back to the end of the preseason, which held him back. That being said, I've been told he is good to go and was surprised he continues to be inactive.

Hey. Gerry, thank you for the chats! In his press conference, Tomlin sure did lean on injuries being a “significant” factor in his D’s fourth quarter melt-down. That really sounds like he’s seeking comfort, as this has been a problem that dates back much further than just the Jets game. Acknowledging Watt’s absence, how much do you feel injuries have caused the defensive woes vs Tomlin’s scheme vs overall Talent?
Gerry Dulac
10:09
I don't think they've caused them at all. Sure they miss Watt, but they had run-stopping problems even with him, so that's not an excuse
Joe

Does Tomlin make any halftime adjustments? I’m serious. Because Minkah seemed to suggest after the game that the defense’s second half collapse might be scheme-related
Gerry Dulac
10:09
Yes. He put Pickett in the game.

10:09
Taking zero away from Watt, how is building a defense that can’t win without 1 player acceptable to anyone in the Steelers organization?
Gerry Dulac

Good Morning Gerry!  I believe teams can trade coaches (if the coach is amenable).  How about Tomlin to the Panthers for their 1rst round pick? We promote Flores to head coach.  Tepper has Steeler connections & I would imagine jump to upgrade over Rhule.
Gerry Dulac
10:10
I'll tell them

Any chance the team acquires a player via trade by the deadline? If so, most likely position?
Gerry Dulac
10:10
I don't see that happening, unless there is a significant injury...and probably not even then

What play calling differences might we see w pickett that we were not seeing w trubisky under center?
Gerry Dulac
10:13
Well, Matt Canada gives each quarterback his list of plays for the game, and each quarterback checks off the ones he likes (or is more comfortable with) and doesn't like. So, for example, Trubisky might like a certain play more than Pickett, and Pickett might feel more comfortable with a certain play than Trubisky. So you could see different type of play calls.

As NFL football evolves, are defense-centric (and experienced) NFL head coaches becoming obsolete in today's game?   Is Mike Tomlin's weakness with the offensive side of the game (and trouble hiring smart offensive minds) a permanent drag on the Steelers?
Gerry Dulac
10:14
That is a very good point!

Said it two years ago and say it again now - Steelers should have used the top picks to address the lines of scrimmage (both sides) last few years.  Najee is a good player and probably great in the locker room. I just don’t think he’s “that” good. Will never break a 30 or 40 yarder and seems more like a plodder.  Having said that, doesn’t it make more sense to get him involved in passing game and give him some space to work with?
Gerry Dulac
10:15
If he's a plodder, as you suggest, he doesn't need space, just bodies to plow through. But I get your point about the lines of scrimmage. I don't disagree, especially this year.

Kenny ran more QB sneaks in 1 half of football than Ben did in the past 5+ years combined. Were the coaches really “protecting” Ben, or did Ben just not like to run it and didn’t want to say it to the media?
Gerry Dulac
10:15
Uh, I think he ran 1.

I have been a Tomlin fan (and apologist at times) until this season--imo his “dominant” comment about this D, followed by the D’s terrible play is inexcusable. Do you see the D ever changing while Tomlin is HC?
Gerry Dulac
10:16
Not unless they get better players and play more base defense

Steven Sims likely to take over for Gunner this week for return duties?
