OK kids, let's get started....

To your knowledge, what was the Chicago Bears organization’s assessment of Justin Fields’ performance as their quarterback that made them decide to move on from him?
Gerry Dulac
10:04
Here was their assessment: 10-28 in three years as a starter

Gerry, given as you said last week that it’s a coach’s league, why didn’t Art Rooney II move on from Mike Tomlin this past offseason given Tomlin’s record and Rooney’s strong urgency to start winning playoff games again?
Gerry Dulac
10:05
Bill, I hate to break this to you but Tomlin's record will land him in the Hall of Fame one day

Morning, Gerry. Do you think the Bears are more regretting not keeping Fields or more regretting not drafting Daniel’s at no.1? Could this be back to back years where the 2nd pick is better than the 1st?
Gerry Dulac
10:06
Let's hold off on any Caleb Williams-Jayden Daniels debates right now. It's only been three games. There is no regret about keeping Fields. See three-year record.

Not Steelers, but would love to hear your opinion of the Pirates' cheap ways being showcased again with the DFAs of Tellez and Taylor.
Gerry Dulac
10:07
Beyond just cheap. Disgraceful. Embarrassing. Professionally and ethically reprehensible. Other than that, no opinion.

Is T.J Watt a top 5 Steeler defender all time?
Gerry Dulac
10:08
I see Bill Cowher thinks so. I'm going to call him and ask him about his list

Gerry,  Thanks for doing the chats.  What is the nature of Cory Trice's injury.  Any word on his return.  He has been impressive so far when he has played.
Gerry Dulac
10:10
Yes he has. And if he has already been ruled out this week, that usually means he will be out at least one more game and more than likely two more.

Hi Gerry, I think like me you were a Fields doubter. His 3 years in Chicago were unimpressive. How many more games like this past Sunday would you need to see to believe he could be the Steelers answer at QB the rest of this season and long-term?
Gerry Dulac
10:11
I wasn't so much a doubter as I was aware of what he didn't do in three years in Chicago. I think it will take a whole lot more than three games to be convinced he is the long-term answer.

All the empty seats at the start of the 3rd quarter - is that a bathroom issue?  A food / beverage issue?  The seats were 90% empty when the 2nd half started and the yellow seats make it obvious
Gerry Dulac
10:12
I don't evaluate bathroom and food lines....except in the press box

10:12
Does Roman Wilson get a helmet Sunday?
Gerry Dulac
10:12
Probably not. Going to be a while

Good morning Mr. Dulac.  Love the Wednesday chats.   I keep reading and hoping for trade news for a new WR2,
Gerry Dulac
10:13
I hate to tell you IUP, you might be reading and disappointed for a while. There is nothing going on in that regard

Thanks for the chats. Is it really necessary to have a #2 WR if you have four #3 WRs and Pickens, Friermuth, Harris, Warren, Hayward, and Patterson?
Gerry Dulac
10:13
Not if all those people you suggest produce

Gerry, I will be traveling to Australia on Monday, so I won’t be able to participate in your great chats for a few weeks. Will you be okay carrying on without me?
Gerry Dulac
10:14
Now you just went and ruined my day Bill. But my chat audience is global so.....

10:14
Are the Bengals done like dinner?
Gerry Dulac
10:14
Quoting Dave "Tiger" Williams, eh...??

10:15
What's your feeling on left guard right now until Isaac Seumalo returns? How do you think the young guys have performed?
Gerry Dulac
10:15
The fact they want to get Mason McCormick in there tells you what they think of him

10:18
IF (note the caps) Justin is the guy, and IF Russ could draw a low draft choice (say a #2?) in a trade, would and should the Steelers consider such a move?
Gerry Dulac
10:18
I DONT (note the caps) think they will
Tjc
10:18
If there was a trade market for Wilson, what do you think his trade value would be?   And would you make that deal?
Gerry Dulac
10:18
No. Not now. It's only three games kids...

GM Gerry, thanks for the chats.  I am really impressed and very surprised on how  well Fields has played so far.  He seems much more accurate with his throws and decision making versus his time in Chicago. Why is MT so hesitant to name him QB1?
Gerry Dulac
10:19
There's a reason -- because he's not.

Hello Mr. Dulac, I'm no Aristotle but based on Mike T's comments yesterday and how he was describing the QB room it sounds like a Russ start will happen as soon as healthy not as soon as production from JF slows. Now is it wrong to assume Week 5 when the schedule turns into that battle tested line up we can expect Russ to take the field Sunday Night against them Boyz from Dallas?
Gerry Dulac
10:21
Hey you qualify as Aristotle with that perception. But I think it's a little of both. Russ is healthy enough to play if he has to now, but they are just being overly cautious because his injury recurred when he had no symptons. I think it will happen when Fields and the offense struggles.

do you think Troy fantanu will be a pro bowl or all pro type player? And what about Zach Frazier also?
Gerry Dulac
10:21
I definitely think they have shown the ability to be Pro Bowl players!!

I keep reading about the need for a WR2.  How realistic is it that a new person traded will be able to help right away?   Isn’t our best hope to wait out   Roman Wilson’s learning curve and hope that he can provide a little spark to help this offense?  And that may even be too much to ask for a 3rd round rookie.   Am I wrong in thinking that the time to address the WR2 position was before August if this year and not during the season?
