Ok kids, I see we have some questions already in the store so we will start our chat in just a couple minutes.
9:49
Ok, let's get started...

Gerry...Ben took a huge hit on on Claypool bomb.  And that wasn't even a sack. He's third most sacked QB ever at 506 and will probably "catch" Favre at 525. Does he get enough credit for how tough he is?
Gerry Dulac
9:51
First off, Ben was sacked a lot earlier in his career, not now. Prior to the 2019 season, he was sacked 82 times over the previous four seasons -- fewest among any starting QB in the league. But, yes, as has been told to me by the people who know, he is one tough dude.

Gerry I have to say I am already super impressed with this rookie class, Claypool, Dotson and Highsmith have all gotten off to a great start especially considering no preseason games and all the challenges this off-season. What are your thoughts?
Gerry Dulac
9:53
I would agree, although Claypool has stood out the most. Of course, it's easier to evaluate a receiver because you easily see what he is able to do. But I have been watching that since training camp and, obviously, so have his teammates who are duly impressed. I think Highsmith and Dotson, for third- and fourth-round picks, have a nice ceiling.

Golf Question: Pinehurst was named first USGA "anchor site" with a slew of events including many Opens through 2050. Will Oakmont become an "anchor site?"
Gerry Dulac
9:53
That would be the next most logical site

Do you think its likey the steelers do another extension with Ben after the season?
Gerry Dulac
9:54
It's possible, but my guess he plays out through 2021 and goes year to year.

Hi Gerry, you are a hellava good man. My question is has the defensive secondary regressed from last year?
Gerry Dulac
9:54
Uh....no.

Hi Gerry, I rewatched the game and just keyed on watching Dotson. His Pass Pro was nearly perfect. A little tentative In run blocking but still moved people.
I think we have a real keeper here. And you know when MT is giving you props you did more than a little right. Thoughts?
Gerry Dulac
9:55
I haven't isolated on him yet but, from what I observed during the game, he was more than solid in pass protection. That, though, is probably easier to do for a rookie than learn what to do with run blocks. Curiously, Dotson's forte is his strength and powerful run blocking.

I think Edmunds is terrible in coverage. How about putting him at linebacker and putting Davis at safety with Minkah. I think Davis will play much better with Minkah beside him. Your thoughts?
Gerry Dulac
9:58
I'm not going to sit here and tell you Terrell Edmunds has been great, but I will tell you the coaches don't share the public's sentiment that he's not very good, or, as you said, terrible. I like Sean Davis, especially as a backup, but he's not as fast as Edmunds and doesn't have the same ability to make big plays, even though we haven't seen a lot from Edmunds.

Hey Gerry I see in your picks that you expect the Defense to give up 28 to Houston. After the close game and 21 against Denver do you still consider them an elite Defense?
Gerry Dulac
9:59
I never said they were. I think they're a very good defense. Give 'em time

Run, run, pass, punt is getting tiring already. Do you see this pattern changing or is something we need to learn to love?
Gerry Dulac

So they rely too much on the run...and the punt?? I could swear I saw them beat the Giants and Broncos.

Hello Gerry, the NFL raised their prices with the networks including Dish and Sling while we are struggling this year due to the pandemic. This in turn raised provider prices for the fans. For Dish and Sling customers, the NFL Network completely cut their service. Sling and Dish customers didn't have the NFL Network or Red-zone for (3) months. My take on this is… doesn't the NFL make enough money? People are losing their jobs at record a pace across the country and the NFL is raising prices and charging a substantially larger amounts of money for the same service that they provided in 2019. I think this is absolutely horrendous on their part. I understand it is a business, but why are they not more compassionate towards their fans during these difficult times? I just SMH... What are your thoughts?
Gerry Dulac
10:02
You raise a good point, but I have to be honest -- it's the price of doing business I guess. It's like health care -- keeps going up even though everyone needs it, especially now. It's why the NFL is big business.

If Steeler coaches reach a point this season where they realize that Devin Bush is not helping the team, do you see Bush getting less or very limited playing time.  Or will they just ride him out all season and hope he improves since he's a #1 pick.  My point is, he is bad at run support (last year and this season) and pass coverage is not much better.  Total tackles mean nothing if they're 6-10yds down the field.

Sorry, didn't have to finish your question.....NO!

Gerry, I expect this defense to shore-up nicely this year. With names in the past like the Steel Curtain and Blitz-burgh already used, I feel we should have a new nick name for this defense. What do you think about the name: The ‘Full Metal Jacket’ defense? I think it has a nice ring to it (no pun intended). Just remember... if it sticks with the media and the rest of the fan base, you heard it here on Dulac’s chat, first!  : P

I'll try to remember that.

hey Sifu.  Both Inside Linebackers are struggling in coverage-  isn’t that all the more reason to give U Gilbert a hat?
Gerry Dulac
10:03
Well, then, imagine what he must be like..??

Hey Gerry! You're right, this isn't a great defense...yet...we're in week 3 with no real preseason. What's this defense's ceiling when they, if they, really start to gel?
Gerry Dulac
10:04
They are very good, one of the best in the league. They get after the QB better than any team in the league. And we have seen evidence they can take the ball away. What's not to like? And, yes, they will keep getting better.

15-1 last week!  Nice job!!

Best ever for me...and I've been doing it a long time

Hi Gerry  What's up with Ben?  Very few passes over ten yards--Is he just rusty with his reads or is it the new offensive game plan?  Thanks!
Gerry Dulac
10:07
I do recall TDs of 84 and 28 yards last week. Ben has five passes of 20 yards or longer in two games. I will point up Patrick Mahomes only has three. Ya think anyone in KC is wondering what's wrong with Mahomes??

Snell fumbles and his penalty is less playing time.  All Claypool does is make big plays-  shouldn’t his reward be more playing time?
Gerry Dulac
10:09
Let's wait and see what Snell's penalty is, though I get your point. Claypool isn't getting a lot of playing time because of any reason other than he's still learning the offense. Don't worry, he will continue to get more and more as the games roll on.

Mcloud seems to have been a great find as a return man. Been pleasantly surprised with him on the few kickoff returns he's had, your thoughts?
Gerry Dulac
10:10
He's gonna break one real soon. He does what every good kickoff returner does -- takes it and goes at top speed. One cut and go. No hesitation.

Gerry, I didn't get a chance to see the Denver game last week. However I noticed in the first game with the Giants, the Steelers were doing alot of misdirection jet sweeps with the ball going to Conner that was never productive. Assuming that was a wrinkle by Canada. Hoping that idea goes by the wayside .... and soon.
Gerry Dulac

You're gonna be disappointed then.
