OK kids, we will start our chat is just a few minutes....

OK, here we go...

With Tomlin recent signing I guess the Rooneys are happy being a middle of the pack team. I guess we are heading back to the SOS days
Gerry Dulac

Hey, it's summer, stop being so pessimistic

Mr,m. Dulac, you constantly point to Tomlin’s playoff record of late. Certainly justifiable to a large degree but why do you never then also point out all the turnovers, esp vs Jax and Cleve, that lead directly to those losses (many of which by your bestie Ben). Why do you never mention those or do you honestly feel player turnovers are MTs fault too?
Gerry Dulac
10:00
Oh, I must've forgot about those. I'll go back and check

Many people feel Peyton Wilson fell to the later 3rd round because of injury history. I have heard some feel that because of his size he may struggle to hold up against the run in the NFL. Does he have a smaller frame and do you think it could impact his ability in the NFL?
Gerry Dulac
10:01
If you look at most ILBs in the league now, most aren't even as big as Wilson. His size is fine. The days of Levon Kirkland at ILB are well gone

First, you are a Pittsburgh treasure, much appreciated. Question, do you truly believe Pickens is a bona fide number one. He seems to me to only have a fast ball/contested catches, but doesn’t create separation consistently or run crisp routes. Thanks.
Gerry Dulac
10:02
I'm not going to argue. Until he proves he's a Justin Jefferson type, I'll hold off on the anointing. But he has the potential to be one, for sure.

Good morning, Gerry! Great to have you back this week! Can you name any backup quarterbacks in the NFL that you feel could possibly be franchise quarterbacks If only they got the opportunity?
Gerry Dulac
10:03
Not really Bill in LA. Largely, they are backups now for a reason -- they proved they are not a franchise QB. Doesn't mean, though, they can't be a solid QB. I will point to Nick Foles when he was with the Eagles as an example

Just wondering if all those clambering for a trade for Aiyuk are the same ones that vibrantly whine when the Steelers bring in or have divas on the roster? Let alone what that would do to Pickens by basically making him the #2. Can’t have it both ways people
Gerry Dulac
10:04
Are you telling me there is hypocrisy among the fan base? C'mon??
Mike
10:04
No way in their right mind do the Steelers start Herbig at center to start the season? They need to embrace starting rookies and not letting them sit for weeks.
Gerry Dulac
10:04
They are not. Don't pay attention to the OTA verbal nonsense

How much draft capital and $s per year would the Steelers invest to obtain a top tier WR?
Gerry Dulac
10:05
I can't answer that. Apparently, though, not what the 49ers have been asking

Gerry Thanks for all the chats.  Do you think the Steelers defense can be a top 5 defense in the league this year?
Gerry Dulac
10:06
It depends. Off hand, I'd say no, because to be that you have to be able to shut down the run on a consistent basis. So until I see that I'll hold off on the proclamations.

Hi Gerry:  Thanks for the chats.  Michael Thomas seems to be the perfect fit for WR2.  Do you think the Steelers know his actual Medical Status and have passed; have they worked him out?  If not, why not?
Gerry Dulac
10:06
They have not, to be my knowledge. And I also have been told he is not their type of receiver.

Hey Gerry thanks for the chat during the "slow season".  How are they going to decide what to do about the OT situation?  If Jones was drafted as a LT and Moore can't really play RT, is there "nothing to see here"?  Also just curious - ever go to the British Open?  If so which course(s)?
Gerry Dulac
10:07
The only thing to see is that Troy Fautanu was their No. 1 pick and they didn't bring him in to lead the band at halftime (to borrow a Tom Donahoe expression)

10:07
When yinzers talk about Coach Tomlin's playoff failure nobody ever brings up the point that Big Ben was the QB for the first 5 losses.
Gerry Dulac
10:09
Yeah, and have you paid attention to how many points their defense allowed in those games? It's over 40 points per game in the past four playoff outings

Hi Gerry. Did Mims look that bad in shorts? Do you think the Steelers out of respect cut him now to allow him to find another team before training camp? This doesn’t say much about him if he can’t make it to camp with a team lacking in WR talent.
Gerry Dulac
10:09
That is correct. Which means you and others had an inflated opinion of him

morning Gerry, steeler QB in 2025?

Wilson, Fields

What up Dulac ? Do you listen to Pittsburgh sports talk radio ? Do you listen to madden ? The B team?  I live in NYC, and i listen to both on my iPhone.  I LOVE it. Ever get an idea for a story from a sports talk show ? I’ll hang up and listen !
Gerry Dulac
10:10
Whaddup Ross, no I don't. No a big talk radio guy, even though I host and have hosted many

10:10
Are Fields throwing as bad as they are reporting and do we get Aiyuk?
Gerry Dulac
10:11
Good lord, it's OTAs. And what do you think?
Andrew Ross
10:11
Everything I read says that QB we got from the bears is terrible. Everyone says he doesn’t have football IQ. Can’t process fast enough. Can we move him to slot WR? If no, how come we can’t ? Do players have a say on their position or do they have to do what the coach tells them ?
Gerry Dulac
10:11
Maybe there's a reason he won only 10 games in three seasons. 10!!!!

Last week you mentioned the frequent overvaluing of college QB prospects by NFL teams. Would you agree there is also overvaluing going on of veterans QBs over the age of 35? They are high risk due to fluctuations in performance when joining new teams (Russell Wilson, Matt Ryan) and have more potential for season ending injuries (Rodgers, Cousins) due to age, and also often don’t work out. Agree?
Gerry Dulac
10:12
I won't disagree at all

Good morning Gerry. Thank you for your chats and perspective. Do you think it makes any sense to trade a 1st or 2nd round draft pick for Brandon Aiyuk and then pay him huge $$$? Why not just draft a WR next year in round 2 and have him on a rookie contract for four years? I agree with you that we need next year’s 1st round pick for DL.
Gerry Dulac
10:12
That's why they haven't done it.
