As the Steelers still chomping at the bit for Baker as the Cleveland newspaper claims?
Gerry Dulac
9:50
No. Never were.

Best chat on PG! Are you hopeful/convinced that the Steelers have players on the roster to make up an effective DL, or do they have to look to add someone?
Gerry Dulac
9:54
No, they have bodies. They're hopeful Isaiahh Loudermilk will continue to make a big jump in year 2. They really like him. And we'll see where DeMarvin Leal fits. He has the potential to get bigger and stronger. But a lot depends too on Alualu. Hes 35 and coming off achilles surgery.

You are the NFL Commissioner: what do you do with the Watson situation?
Gerry Dulac
9:58
Suspend for at least a year. It's what the Browns owner deserves.

Hey Gerry! Hope you are doing well, do you believe that Diontae Johnson is getting an extension?
Gerry Dulac
10:00
He's not getting one this year. That's going to Minkah. I'm sure he wants to test free agency to get a big offer, which he, like JuJu, will discover aren't there for guys who are considered No. 2 receivers.

Hi Gerry. What's up with those ugly safety helmets? Are they supposed to be tested out in the preseason?
Gerry Dulac
10:00
Just in practice. And they are unsightly, but safer.

No one knows who will eventually get the majority of the snaps that would have gone to Stephon Tuitt this year, but who do you think the Steelers would like to seize the opportunity created by Tuitt's retirement?
Gerry Dulac
10:01
One person -- Isaiahh Loudermilk.

Are we done signing any free agents or are we waiting on salary cap casualties?
Gerry Dulac
10:02
That possibility always remains open till the end of the preseason. I wouldn't be surprised to see a veteran RB added by then. Of course, significant injuries can always affect that too.

Morning Gerry.  Who's the best Steelers golfer of Steelers past?  If not the same, who would you say is the best golfer of Steelers present?
Gerry Dulac
10:04
Steelers past -- Tommy Maddox, Dick LeBeau, Ken Whisenhunt, Todd Haley. Not sure of the current group with Ben gone.

with all the talk of Pickett should be starting due to being drafted in the 1st round... do you recall what the plan was with BR his rookie year as he was the #2 and didn't come in until Maddox was injured?
Gerry Dulac
10:06
I think it's the same plan as Pickett -- not be the opening starter and see what develops. The plan for Ben was to let him sit for a while and learn. That all changed real quickly. Also, times are a little different now. No. 1 picks usually don't sit very long.

Good Morning Sir- With Minkah and Johnson both looking for big contracts, who gets taken care of first? is it going to be a Wallace/AB situation where whoever inks first get the cash and the other gets the door?
Gerry Dulac
10:07
There is no issue, nor should there be. Minkah is an elite player. He will get a big deal now and Johnson will have to wait.
Scott

Several players have reacted positively to the attention to detail and accountability that Brian Flores has brought to the OTA's. While this is great to hear, it makes one wonder if this approach had been lacking in the past. What is your take?
Gerry Dulac
10:07
Let's wait and see what happens when the season starts.

How do you see Loudermilk and Leal contributing and making up for the loss of
Gerry Dulac
10:08
Loudermilk played more snaps as a rookie than any D-lineman they ever drafted on the fifth round or lower, even Keisel. He will see a lot more time this year, too.

Do the Steelers want to keep D Johnson beyond this year?
Gerry Dulac
10:09
It will depend on his asking price and what he thinks he's worth. I'm sure they want to keep him. It just depends at what price.

What do you think is a realistic trade return for Mason Rudolph?
Gerry Dulac
10:10
Depends if teams are desperate for a QB because of injuries. The Steelers got a 5th round pick for Josh Dobbs because the Jaguars had big injury issues.

Hi Gerry are you confident in the Steelers secondary particularly cornerback?
Gerry Dulac
10:10
Confident is not a word I would use.
Tom Jackson

Do you think Boswell will be extended before the season?
Gerry Dulac
10:11
Probably not. But they do want to re-sign him.

Hi Gerry, with the retirement of Tuitt, it brings to mind Jason Worilds.  Any idea what he is up to these days?
Gerry Dulac
10:17
I do not. Sorry

I'm starting to feel a little better about the defensive line Gerry.....linebackers as well but this secondary to me is a real concern.  Do you think they will do something to try and upgrade this area, specifically the CB position by a free agent signing or a trade before camp begins?
Gerry Dulac
10:18
I don't know that their plan is to try to improve the secondary, though that doesn't mean they won't. I think the preseason will speak to that. Some veteran could get cut that they like and add him before the start of the regular season.

Hello there...With the Minkah situation pending, I'm seeing a lot of "suggestions" that he and the the team will handle the situation much like they did last year w TJ. My only objection is that I keep seeing references nationally as well as on The Fan and even on the PG pages that TJ held out or didn't participate. I was there at some of the camp sessions and I was very impressed. While he wasn't participating in physical drills, he was busting it on sidelines and in the end zones and would even run along besides teammates who were fully participating. I'm not an apologist for millionaires, but I did think that TJ did it the right way and that it should be well and accurately documented.

The Steelers already set a precedent with Watt about handling a contract extension during training camp so it would only follow to reason they will do the same with Minkah. I expect them to do the same. Minkah will be at camp, he will be working on the side and doing individual stuff, but you will likely not see him in live stuff until the regular season. Or at least until he signs a new deal.
