Gerry, Love your insights and straightforwardness. You are the best. Does Kenny Pickett have a quarterback coach? If so are you aware of what other quarterbacks he might coach?
Gerry Dulac
9:46
He does. His name is Tony Racioppi. But I'm not aware of his clientele list

Gary, big fan. Where do you see Calvin Austin III fitting in this year?
Gerry Dulac
9:47
The plan is for him to be their third or fourth receiver, depending on the formations/packages. Allen Robinson might take away some of his playing time, but the Steelers are excited to see what he can bring.

In 2023, can you still win a Super Bowl by running the ball, controlling the clock, and having a top tier defense?  I think that is the Steelers plan gong forward.  I'm not as confident about this defense as others.  Watt needs to stay healthy and there are a lot of concerns at ILB and Secondary.
Gerry Dulac

Well, at some point, you still need to have the quick-strike power of the passing game. If you don't have that, you will have problems when you get behind. But, what we are seeing is teams going back to relying on the run -- not solely but as a supplement to what they like to do.

Good morning Gerry. As I read some of the negative comments about the schedule and loaded loaded the division and AFC is, I for one am very excited about the new approach the organization has taken. Of course we have to be realistic, but for the first time in a while I'm looking forward to what we may see. Thank you for taking my comment
Gerry Dulac

I agree. Forget the schedule. You never how that is going to play out. Look at the Rams last season -- began as defending Super Bowl champs and ended up very average. And look at Jax -- began as average team and ended as tough playoff team. Ya never know.

Has there been any word on Kwon Alexander? It’s been pretty quiet from everyone on if he even came to visit. The team needs another ILB and he or Kyle Van Noy would be the perfect fit. Thanks!
Gerry Dulac

None so far but I'm checking...

Hey Gerry. Thanks for the chats! I read constantly all off season that there was a 0% chance MR signed back with the Steelers. Yet here we are. I think this is another case of Landry Jones where the Steelers value a guy much more than the rest of the league. Do you think he had any other potential offers to compete for the #2 spot?
Gerry Dulac
9:53
He did not. otherwise he would have jumped at it. Mason wanted a change of scenery after the way he was treated/demoted last season. Despite what was being publicly said about an open competition, he never thought he got a fair chance to be the starter -- and he was right. Never got to work with the first unit in camp or preseason games. He was moving on. But, when nothing materialized, I guess this is better than nothing.

If it becomes apparent that Jones is the starting left tackle does Dan Moore compete for the right tackle starting position
Gerry Dulac
9:53
Perhaps, but the team has no issues with Chuks Okorafor at RT

Will we learn this year if Pickett is the future franchise QB?  If he plateaus, how long do the Steelers stick with him?
Gerry Dulac
9:54
You will get a better idea, for sure.

Hey Gerry.  It seems like the Steelers added some decent talent to the team.  My question is.....with such a poor and predictable coaching staff, does it matter?
Gerry Dulac
9:56
I think your characterization of the coaching staff as "poor and predictable" is misguided. I get at which coach you are directing your assessment, but lumping Mike Tomlin as a poor coach is off base. I'm betting right here and now those words are never used during his Hall of Fame induction.

You are welcome, but I'm still looking for it....

Hello . Thank you as always for the chat . Any news regarding Kwon Alexander visit last Monday ? Do you expect him to be signed soon ? I think if nothing else , it shows that the Steelers are not satisfied with LB room . Is there any other LB  that you think might join Steelers ? Thank you.
Gerry Dulac
9:59
I don't have any update, but the mere fact they are considering tells you what they think of the position. The annual makeover at ILB has been troublesome.

We know its not in the Steelers DNA to dismiss a coach mid-season, but is there any scenario where they would make an exception? What if they are winless at mid-season and its clear the offensive scheme is the issue?  Would they relieve MC in that scenario?
Gerry Dulac
9:59
I'm guessing no.

Is Mason Rudolph's likely return the most startling Steelers news of this cycle?  Is there a close second?
Gerry Dulac
10:00
If it is, it's a slow news cycle.

Hi Gerry, The Steelers draft has been widely praised. However, football has changed in recent years from what it has been throughout the years to a much more offensively dynamic game. Why not load up with speed and offensive weaponry like WR rather the approach the Steelers took with a focus on physicality. I don't think any team can get through the gauntlet of high caliber QBs in the AFC without a dynamic offense that can score quickly and often.. Thoughts?
Gerry Dulac
10:00
Because they have that. They needed the other. To me, their approach has been spot-on.

Hello . Thank you for the chat . Has Mason Rudolph officially sign the contract ? Do you expect him to stick around after this year since he has tested the free agency ? Thank you very much .
Gerry Dulac
10:01
I don't know that he officially signed, but he came in to do that. I'm sure they were probably going to give him a one-year contract

On Ben's podcast, Cowher said the Steelers were a well oiled machine when we walked away and just don't screw it up.  I couldn't agree more.  Do you think that was a reference to Tomlin?  Personally I feel it took Tomlin only 4 years to screw it up and he keeps doing it more and more every year.
Gerry Dulac
10:02
Well, he was right and they ended up in two more Super Bowls in the next four seasons. Now, since then, well.....

Kwon Alexander came in Monday but so far no news?  Any insights?
Gerry Dulac

I wish I had some for y'all. I don't. But when I do...

10:03
Why would Mason Rudolph sign with the Steelers for QB3 given how he was treated last year? Is there more to the Mason Rudolph contract than we know? Was he possibly promised QB2 next year?
Gerry Dulac
10:04
No, he wasn't promised anything, other than being told all 3 QBs would get a chance to compete -- and he felt he was never given that chance (and he was correct). The mere fact he would return, after wanting to get a fresh start elsewhere, would indicate there weren't any other opportunities right now.
Bill

If a quarterback needy team offers the Steelers a 3rd round pick for Trubisky at the deadline, do they take it?
Gerry Dulac
10:04
Nope
