OK kids, we're going to start our chat in about 15 minutes and I know you have plenty of questions.....
10:48
Ok, let's get started. Go!!
John
10:48
If Harris is there it’s gotta be their selection, right?     If Harris isn’t there it could get very very very interesting.  What say you
Gerry Dulac
10:49
Not necessarily. There's another RB in their mix -- ETN
NYC Steeler
10:49
Steelers brass just "leaked" that they are interested in Fields.  OK, back to reality.  If 2 of the top 3 RBs are on the board at 24, does GM Dulac trade down?  Why/Why not?
Gerry Dulac
10:49
No. If one of the two RBs they value are there, they are picking one of em at 24.

Could you see us going CB in the first round?
Gerry Dulac
10:51
As Bruce Arians once said on draft day when the Steelers picked Matt Spaeth and he was asked if he's Matt Kranchick, "Lord, I hope not."
Adam
10:51
Hi Gerry, are there any corners or safeties you're hearing the Steelers are high on?
Gerry Dulac
10:54
I'm sure they like the two guys everyone likes -- Surtain and Horn. Will they take them. No, cause they won't be there.

If Michael Parsons were storms slide to the steelers at choice #24 and Najee Harris was still available, which one would you
Gerry Dulac
10:55
Yeah, and if Trevor Lawrence slides to 24, will they take him...???

10:55
Gerry - What do you think the odds are of the Steelers picking up the 5th year option on Terrell Edmunds?  And what has happened to Rory?
Gerry Dulac
10:55
Unless they have someone waiting in the wings, and they don't, I think they will exercise the option

10:55
Hey Gerry! Happy Draft Week! Any chance Dickerson falls to number 55? Any word on his injury status?
Gerry Dulac
10:56
His injury status is unchanged -- his history is terrible. He's a first-round talent who could drop to 55
Ryan
10:56
Picking up the 5th year on Minkah was a no brained obviously. Does it seem likely they're not picking Edmunds since they didn't the same time as Minkah?
Gerry Dulac
10:57
They might. Not sure one has to do with the other. Fitzpatrick is in line for a new big contract after the season, not just an option

10:57
Any free agent corners that may be available after the draft that the Steelers have an eye on to add some depth or to play the slot?
Gerry Dulac
10:57
That's still to be determined, but I'm sure there are. There are a lot of veteran players still out there.

If Justin Fields falls, even a little, do you think the Steelers will be on the phone making an offer to trade up? Say he were to fall past ATL, maybe to 7 or even 8?
Gerry Dulac
10:58
Once again...I sure hope not.
David
10:58
Does Justin Layne's arrest affect the team's draft or free agent plans?
Gerry Dulac
10:58
None

Hi Gerry, last time we picked a RB in round 1, Rashad Mendenhall was the choice. I remember at the time Steeler Nation was elated. That soon evaporated. Could you see the same thing happening this year with Mahesh?
Gerry Dulac
10:58
No
Majesty
10:58
What you think Javonte and Najee?
Gerry Dulac
10:59
Williams is not among the two-back debate.

Good morning Mr. Dulac. You’re obviously barraged with the same questions so I’m hoping you can answer one that is more personal.  After telling my Frosh football players in Manhattan Beach your response to my question last week, one of them asked how he could pursue a career in sports journalism.   Do you have any insights that perhaps his school counselor may not be privy to?  They all give you a big shout out!
Gerry Dulac
10:59
That's a discussion for another time my friend

Does Steelers do anything for military? A lot of times I see service members on the field at games and that’s a dream of mine
Gerry Dulac
11:00
Yes they do, all the time. I suggest you reach out to the Steelers community relations department to find out more. Good luck

What is more important to change the run game results? Is it scheme or is it talent or is it a little bit of both?
Gerry Dulac
11:00
It's both and that's exactly what they are changing.

Thanks for the chat!  I saw reports yesterday that the Steelers really like Kyle Trask (1st round grade).  I’m not saying their evaluation of him is wrong, but I think it would be a mistake to use any picks on a QB this year, especially before the 3rd round.  What chances do you give of Trask being drafted by Pittsburgh?
Gerry Dulac
11:01
I think both your points are spot on, but I don't see it happening.
James stuck in Baltimore
11:01
If the Steelers take Zaven Collins, do they use him at OLB, ILB, or mix of both? He seems like the right kind of puzzle piece to move effectively in Butler's scheme.
Also, please tell the Steelers not to take a Center that got hurt all 4 years in college with 2 ACL tears in the 1st round...
Gerry Dulac
11:03
They actually think Collins can play both positions. While his size suggest OLB, he didn't play a lot there at Tulsa. A center will come no earlier than the second round. Dickerson's injury history is a big concern, obviously. If a team drafts him, they are doing so with the idea they will keep their fingers crossed to get five years at most out of him. Expecting more is not very smart

11:03
Do the Steelers draft for inside linebacker depth or do they pick up one in free agency?
Gerry Dulac
11:04
At this point, they would just draft one. With VW back, they have some amount of depth with Robert Spillane for at least another year. But, having VW back, lessens the immediate need for an ILB
