Ok kids, the sun is filtering through the palm trees here in the desert, which really has nothing to do with starting our chat but I thought I'd let you know anyway. We'll begin in just a few minutes.
10:48
OK kids, let's get started.

What's your take on instant replay for PI?  Are you surprised Mr. Rooney voted in favor of it?
Gerry Dulac
10:50
Not really. I think when he saw that the competition committee was unanimous in its support -- that includes his coach -- he compromised along with the other owners. Wouldn't have mattered if he did vote against it.

Gerry, quality over quantity!  Trade up and get a Devin!  We absolutely have to fix that problem!!
Gerry Dulac
10:51
Agreed. They don't need 10 draft picks. They don't need bodies. I wouldn't hold on to any more than six, even five if I could put together a good deal. If they use all 10 picks, shame on them.

84 and 26 crave attention, everytime they tweet and post the media cant wait to talk about it and dissect it. this gives these nutjobs just what they want, attention, enough already, can we move on?
Gerry Dulac
10:52
Let's!! They should steal Lady Gaga's album title and call themselves "Fame Monsters."

Assuming the Devins are gone for the first pick.  Would you say the Steelers would pick the best player available between-CB, TE Safety, OLB?
Gerry Dulac
10:53
I doubt it will be a cornerback. It will still be an ILB or a wide receiver. Don't forget WR.
Gregg
10:54
If they use all 10 picks, for what positions do you see them using more than one pick?
Gerry Dulac
10:55
If they use all 10 picks, at least one of the picks should be a psychologist to have their heads examined.

Gerry imo after hearing the audio discussions between Brown and his agent its pretty clear Colberts hands were tied as to what deal to make, some people think they shouldve held him until the draft and couldve gotten more, what are your thoughts?
Gerry Dulac
10:56
No. His value would have decreased at time wore on, not increased. Teams would have already made other deals in free agency. That's why the Steelers wanted to move him early, ahead of free agency -- to get to teams before they started spending their money.

Looking at the mocks I think White is out of reach.  Do they need to get ahead of Cincinnati at 11 to get a shot at Bush?  Based on a draft value chart to move to 10 it would cost their first, both thirds, and the sixth they got from the Raiders.  Too steep of a price?
Gerry Dulac
10:59
I agree White will be out of their reach. And Cincy needs an ILB too, so, yeah, need to get ahead of the Bengals. I would swap 1s, give up a 3 and a 4 if I thought I could get White or Bush.

Hi Gerry, first timer here.  Love your work!  OK...what do we do if both Bush and White are off the board in Round 1?  Please no more reaches like Jones and Dupree!  Would Barron become full time by default?  Thanks much!  All you guys have been superb in this crazy off season!  Dan

Thanx Dan. I do not have a handle yet on what other ILBs they would have interest in picking if White and Bush aren't there. But I do know this -- the Steelers never turn their back on a skill player. If a WR they like is available in the first round they'll take him.

I vote we not move up in the draft. The time has passed to get through Ben’s Super Bowl window via the draft. Time to use our multiple early picks to build a foundation for post-Ben. Who’s with me?

Do you feel the Steelers will make substantial efforts to acquire White or Bush if they feel they won't fall to 20?
Gerry Dulac
11:02
They certainly need to try, more so than ever

Hi Gerri - I always value your opinion and agree with it most of the time. Ive been staying awake a little later this week, and wondering how you compared Donte Moncrief to Justin Hunter. The stats just don’t add up. I’m curious....Please help.
Gerry Dulac
11:04
My point was I think they paid a lot of money for Moncrief. Yes, his numbers are better than Hunter, but he doesn't catch a lot of balls for the number thrown in his direcdtion. His catch ratio is not very good. I don't think he was signed to be some immediate answer to losing AB. That's all.

Are the Steelers more likely to trade up in the first round or in the later rounds?
Gerry Dulac
11:06
I think they're likely to trade up in the first and second round. Their third-round pick from the Raiders is already high. I would start packaging as many picks from the fourth round and beyond as I could if it meant helping to move up in rounds 1 or 2.

Hi Gerry...i really look forward to your weekly chats.  From what I understand of the new pass interference rules that were passed yesterday, I think it is the wrong way to try to solve the problem.  On pretty much every passing play, there is interference (both offensive and defensive).  I like the ARII's idea of having an additional umpire upstairs.  Only that umpire can make the call,  and only if it is in the 4th quarter and the game is within 10 points.  Otherwise, it will slow the game down too much
Gerry Dulac
11:09
This rule was passed -- and the game will change -- because of ONE play. One!! The missed PI in the NFC title game. I liked the Sky Judge idea too, but I will point up it wasn't AR2's idea. However, a coach will have two challenges, just like always, so he will have to be judicious when and if he wants to challenge a PI call, missed or otherwise

Greetings Gerry. Thanks for your time. With the signing of Nelson and Barron, do you think the Steelers will try and move up to get Bush? Do you think Bush is worth the draft picks the Steelers will have to give away? I'm on the fence still.
Gerry Dulac
11:10
They need to get a playmaker in the middle of the field and more speed at inside linebacker. The players they have there are average at best. If Bush is that guy, don't sit on the fence. Get off and go get em

Why do some national talking heads seem to think JuJu can't become the next AB. I actually think he could be better. His numbers after two seasons are already better and he's younger than AB was after his first two seasons. It took AB time to become AB. JuJu is already ahead in his career trajectory if you ask me.
Gerry Dulac
11:12
I get your point and I don't disagree. But it is difficult to expect ANY receiver to match Brown's production in a three-, four-, five- and six-year period, which is the greatest in NFL history. That is almost irreplaceable. What is replaceable is that poisonous attitude that has no place in professional sports

11:12
At what point during the draft do you see the Steelers addressing the TE position?
Gerry Dulac
11:13
Third round, no later than fourth.

11:14
Convenient for the team to stay silent during the Brown shenanigans and then profess to want to look forward, be concerned with the players on the team now, blah blah blah. Eschewing one of the roots of his transgressions (allowing him free reign and a separate set of rules re: meetings, training camp residence, etc.) is frustrating to a fan base that values taking responsibilities and admitting mistakes. Tomlin's the king of this, and his comments this week, I believe show he has not altered his style and is not the person to turn the corner from last year's circus. What do you think about all of that?
Gerry Dulac
11:15
Blah blah blah
TampaToo
11:15
Seems like it’s going to slow the game down even more. Your thoughts?
Gerry Dulac
11:18
Maybe no more than any other challenge. Again, a coach still has only two challenges, a third if he gets one of the two right. It's not like all debatable PI calls will be reviewed. But you can guarantee all questionable PI plays will be debated ad nauseum on TV
Todd Gack
11:18
Do you feel the Steelers will “double dip” any position during the draft? I would think ILB if they don’t trade up.
Gerry Dulac
11:19
I wouldn't object or be surprised at all
