Gerry...with JUJU walking .... can you see steelers bringing in a golden tate or a vet like that ..... that wr room will be awfully young?
Gerry Dulac
10:43
OK lets get our chat started...Go!!
10:44
Yes it will and they might, but not anyone who will cost them a lot of money.

Gerry the steelers could easily create alot more space by asking Joe Haden to do the dummy contract?  Makes to much sense why not do it?    Also what are your thoughts on decastro ? Just a bad year?
Gerry Dulac
10:46
Agreed. I could see them doing a new two-year deal for Haden, something to ease the cap hit. I have no problems with DeCastro. They have not asked him about any type of new contract.

1.linsley  2. Andrews seem to be the top 2 centers in FA.  I can't see ben wanting to break in a rookie center his last year.  Although I can't see him wanting a rookie left tackle either...should be interesting how they play out this line.....can you give me left to right starting olineman? (best guess)
Gerry Dulac
10:47
Their best bet is to sign a center in free agency and I think they will. Right now, I'll say it's Okorafor, Dotson, FA center, DeCastro, Feiler.

Gerry - Do you think the signing of Marcus Allen to a one year deal frees up a draft spot for another offensive lineman, or do you think they still need to add depth a the ILB position?  Thanks.
Gerry Dulac
10:47
No, his signing does nothing to free up anything.

Hi Gerry...I just wanted to say that I really, really enjoyed your article on Phil Mickelson and Stacy Hurt. I've always liked hearing about how great of a guy he is on/off the course, and this was another fantastic example. https://www.post-gazette.com/sports/golf/2021/03/04/phil-mickelson-sta...

Hello . Love your chat . Do you see Mason Rudolph sign an extension this year ? Otherwise Steelers are without any QB under contract next year and he MR can possibly leave  . Thank you very much .
Gerry Dulac
10:48
That is correct, but I think at this point they will wait until after the season to do something w him. But it's a ticklish little problem for them.

Hi Gerry, I know it's old news. But who idea was it to start Spillane and Feiler in the playoffs? Tomlin or the position coach. Feiler had to crucial penalties and Spillane for abused. And why haven't more been made about it from the media?
Gerry Dulac
10:49
Tomlin makes all the decisions. They're the starters and the starters start.

Don’t you think it would be hilarious for Aaron Rodgers to come out and do one of his Jeopardy host shows in full foot
Packer gear, helmet and all, and never mention it.?

There's been talk from the outside media that Ben really don't practice during the week. Is this Ben being set in his ways, coaching or both. I never hear about Brady not practicing. What's your take?
Gerry Dulac
10:51
It's Tomlin's decision and he does the same with other older players such as Pouncey and Heyward and Haden

Comment then question. If you told Steelers fans, you could have a recent high 1st round graded QB at a minimum salary, would you take it?  It's how the Steelers keep winning. Low risk, high reward signings. Even with the QB position. Now they don't have to force a QB pick and can evaluate a top QB talent, without sacrificing the draft capital you'd typically need to get one. I'll miss Colbert when it retires.

Comment then comment: Yes. Yes.

Shannon Sharpe made a big deal on Tomlin not hiring blacks at his coordinator position, he said Tomlin was being hypocritical. Do Tomlin or Mr Rooney hire the coaches and what's your take on it. Thanks
Gerry Dulac
10:53
Tomlin hired the coaches, though Butler was already on staff when Tomlin took over in 2007. Shame on you for listening to Shannon Sharpe

Hey Gerry, can you explain/give any background to how Claypool’s “diva quotient” has grown or become more prominent? Thank you!
Gerry Dulac
10:55
Diva is not the proper word for Claypool. He is not that. Antonio Brown is that. Claypool is immature and has not made good decisions. He has made foolish, rash statements that rookies shouldn't make. And, for a rookie, he shouldn't be concerned about growing his brand

Any chance the Steelers consider releasing Ebron and signing a guy like Kyle Rudolph? Rudolph is a better blocker and less drops, could potentially save money towards the cap also.
Gerry Dulac
10:58
I don't know what the chances are, but it might make sense. Cutting Ebron would save them $6 million and he would count only $2.5 mill against the cap. But Ebron is also the type of tight of flex tight end who is better for the pass game. Rudolph would be better for the run game.

I have enjoyed Bud Dupree. He's been great these past few seasons, but I guess unlike so many short-memory fans, I can remember five years ago when the fan base was screaming that he was a bust. Meanwhile his replacement had a much more bigger rookie impact than Bud did, which seems to augur well for the future. I would think management agrees and will wish him well. Right?

Of the teams drafting ahead of the Steelers,  which ones are most likely  to take a RB in the first round? If Harris is gone, do you prefer Javonte Williams or Etienne as the second option for the Steelers?
Gerry Dulac
10:59
I really like Javonte Williams...period.

Good morning Gerry. I'm a believer that ben knowing this will be his last year will do everything he can to adjust to a new system. It will benefit everyone. And i think he has never gotten fair treatment from the media. Yes he has has his moments, but how can anyone say he is not a team player1 Thank you for response
Gerry Dulac
11:00
I really don't know how anyone can argue about anything Ben has done on the field in the past 17 years

Hi. Which are the free agents Pittsburgh cant's allows to leave? and who are easly sostituible?
Gerry Dulac
11:03
OK, we don't do translations very well, but they should try to keep Matt Feiler and Tyson Alualu and would like to keep JuJu (but probably won't). And they need to keep either Cam Sutton or Mike Hilton, probably Sutton. Just about all the others are replaceable
The Dude
11:04
Probably can’t afford Hunter Henry but what about Smith or Everett? Might be able to get either on a one or two year deal. Would you be willing to move in that direction? Would you be willing to cut Enron loose to sign one of them?
Gerry Dulac
11:04
No.
The GM
11:04
Gerry, I do not think the Steelers will land one of the top three RB's next month if they wait until round 2 (55th). Should they go with Najee Harris at #24, or take a chance and wait until round 2?
Gerry Dulac
11:04
I agree. I think all the top 3 will be gone by their pick in the second round. Which is why I think they go 1.
