OK kids, we will start our chat in about 35-40 minutes, so get ready w your questions....
10:50
OK, let's get our chat started...Go!!

Debate is raging (maybe hyperbole) about whether the Steelers should go OL or RB with their first pick, depending on who is available. I worry about building up a line if it means Benny Snell is our lead back next year. So, do you think it's easier to go RB first and still get good OL talent later, or easier to go OL first and still find good RB talent later, assuming we don't have FA cash for either?
Gerry Dulac
10:51
Benny Snell won't be the lead back next year, trust me.

Is Mac Jones worthy of a first round pick?
Gerry Dulac
10:51
No.

Any word yet on the meeting between Ben and the Steelers?  Are you anticipating anything other than Ben returning with a reduced cap hit?
Gerry Dulac
10:53
No puffs of smoke yet. They haven't met.

Hi Gerry, before the 2020 season started what % of people would have signed on for 4,000 passing yards, 33 TD passes, 4 come from behind wins, 66% completions, 12 wins, and division championship? and all this with no running game, 3 new receivers, and a mediocre O Line?
Gerry Dulac
10:54
99.9 percent. How soon they forget

Gerry - Now that the coaching positions have all been filled, any surprises there for you?  Not much of a track record to consider so I guess it will be a lot of wait and see how it works out?
Gerry Dulac
10:56
We shall see if they were good moves or even the right moves. The only guy with a track record is the new QB coach, quite frankly

Wouldn’t signing JJ Watt be a waste of money for a salary cap strapped team?
Gerry Dulac
10:57
Yep. It makes little sense on many levels. Plus, like I said the other day, I doubt very much J.J. Watt would want to come here, to T.J.'s turf, and overshadow his little brother. I don't think he has any interest in that.
Fred

Who’s more valuable to keep: Sutton or Hilton?
Gerry Dulac
10:57
Sutton. Hilton has coverage issues

What do you think the chances are that Javonte Williams will be available for the Steelers to pick in the 2nd round?
Gerry Dulac
10:59
That's a long way down in the second round. I think he will last till the second round but not where the Steelers will be picking.

Will we draft Najee Harris if available at 24?
Gerry Dulac
11:00
I would.

Ohio State QBs have been poor NFL QBs.  Do you think Fields will be better?
Gerry Dulac
11:01
I was not a big fan of his until I saw him in that Clemson game. Let's put it this way, he can't be any worse.

When I was a kid, the NFL Draft was 12 rounds. Why did they reduce it to 7? I would think owners would prefer a situation where they could control more guys rather than have to fight it out on the open market for all the free agents who previously would have been drafted in rds 8-12.
Gerry Dulac
11:01
Well, I would say you are wrong, because the owners are the ones who approve the reduction.

Gerry you have been around the Steeler organization for a while in your opinion what do you think Dan Rooney would do in the Ben situation.
Gerry Dulac
11:02
I think he would handle it the same way his son will.

Hi Gerry. I always was a fan of Big Ben. Everything he did for the Steelers over the years has been great. Never could understand the negative comments over the years from some of my friends. He is not perfect. No Quarterback in the NFL is.  Here comes the but. Do you think with everybody they will probably be losing the smart move for the Steelers is to move on with Mason and see what they have in him.   Thanks
Gerry Dulac
11:04
They are not in the business of seeing "what they have" in a player. But, to your point, the decision they will make with Ben will be about deciding to move on if they think he can't play anymore. And I don't think they think that. It won't be about money, no matter what they say.

Gerry,  I learned from the SB is Ben has a better arm than Brady, a running game helps the QB and passing game, and an O line that pass block for more than 2.1 seconds also helps the deep passing game. If Steelers can improve the O line and running game for '21 why can't we win again with Ben ?
Gerry Dulac
11:06
Who let this guy in the chat????
REID
11:06
Gerry, is Ben the most underappreciated athlete in Pittsburgh sports history?
Gerry Dulac
11:07
No, what I think is some Steelers fans are the most underappreciative in Pittsburgh sports history.

If Ben says I'm Done - and ends his career......................................are we ready to proceed - with our Quarterbacks here........................................or must we take that money - that we would have spent....................................and dabble in the draft - for a free agent.............
Gerry Dulac
11:09
First off, Ben won't say he's done. The Steelers will be the ones to decide that. And there won't be any free agent QB signing, at least, not one who would be anything other than a backup. But there could be a QB in the draft.

Hi Gerry. Why does Coach Tomlin continue to let the distractions keep happening, mainly JuJu. You think he would have learned after Brown.
Gerry Dulac
11:09
Bingo.

Is it accurate that the team will have $130 million in cap space for 2022?  I know that projection doesn’t include TJ and Minkah’s future extensions but that’s an amazing number which should help build this team up nicely for the foreseeable future.
Gerry Dulac
11:10
Where the heck did you see that??
REID
11:10
Gerry, besides being less mobility, what are naysayers seeing in Ben's game that would make them think he can't play anymore?
Gerry Dulac
11:10
Whatever it is they are seeing, it's time for them to get better glasses. Or a better understanding of what's wrong.
