OK, kids, our official start time was delayed an hour, but that doesn't mean I won't unofficially start sooner. So get ready.....
11:44
OK, kids, here we go....

How did they miss so badly on Burns?   His physical numbers couldn’t have changed from college.  Speed and skills don’t change that much.  I had to be coach ability or something that was missed and well hidden
Gerry Dulac
11:45
I would venture to say it was something that was missed. Either that, or over-evaluation. The people who knew him best at Miami didn't think he was anything more than a third-round pick.

Do you think Foster or Gilbert would be willing to come back on 1 year contracts as backups?!
Gerry Dulac
11:48
Well, Gilbert is under contract so that's not an issue. With Foster, it depends what Steelers offer and what he thinks he can get outside in free agency. Last time, he said he turned down more money to stay with Steelers.

If AB is traded - you insist Steelers will draft a WR in 1st or 2nd. The history of NFL clearly shows rookie WRs don't produce year 1 (Juju being an exception...and even that wasn't until mid season). With a win now attitude, when then wouldn't they be better suited to go get a free agent to be their #2 or #3?
Gerry Dulac
11:49
I'm not interested in what general history might show. I know what the Steelers history is and their penchant for not passing up skill players, especially when they will need one. Just go back to last year when they traded Martavis Bryant and immediately took a WR on the second round for that very reason.

It's tough to know what you have with a rookie, third-string QB but are they confident that Mason Rudolph is their guy?
Gerry Dulac
11:52
No, of course not. How could they be? And therein lies the problem. You may know very little, if anything, about Rudolph for at least two more years, so long as Ben stays healthy. By then, his rookie contract will be expiring and then what do you do. Nothing against Rudolph, but that's why I thought taking a QB on the third round when you have a Super Bowl roster and need defensive help was a waste of a pick. Obviously, do did Ben, and he was right.

11:53
Sometimes the obvious answer becomes the answer. If SF is Brown's landing spot, could you see him going for their second-rounder and maybe another in say, 2020, like a conditional third/fourth rounder? (Personally I still think a team throws a first for him by the time next month rolls around.)
Gerry Dulac
11:55
It depends how many teams are interested in a deal. The 49ers, or any other team, are not going to start with a good deal. They're going to start with a modest offer, a fourth-rounder maybe, because they know the Steelers want to trade him. But if the Steelers have several suitors, they can play one offer against the other to get something reasonable.

Do you see any legitimate, feasible and appealing trade scenarios out there for AB that might bring a good draft pick and a top corner like maybe Ramsey or has he damaged his own value too much?  Sounds like Peterson is staying in AZ?
Gerry Dulac
11:57
Sure. I think it's possible for the Steelers to get a good draft choice in the deal, but not a good pick AND a player. The only way they get both is if it's a mid- or low-round pick and a starter-capable player, though not necessarily a veteran starter. But, unless a number of teams line up for a trade, I don't see the Steelers getting anything more than a second-round pick for him, given everything that has gone on. That's at most.

11:58
Gerry, are you getting the sense the Steelers will resign Hilton as the nickel?
Gerry Dulac
11:58
I think they will re-sign him
STEEL72
11:58
Gerry, have there been any Tomlin sightings? Haven't heard a peep. Do you have any information on how he's reacting to all the media speculation and Brown's weekly drama?
Gerry Dulac
12:00
And you won't hear anything from him until the NFL owners meetings in late March. Since he got hired, he is the ONLY coach and/or GM who hasn't spoken to the national media (or even the local media) at the NFL combine.
Matt
12:00
Gerry, do you like any of these names at WR for the Steelers in Free Agency? John Brown,Jermaine Kearse,Demaryius Thomas?
Gerry Dulac
12:00
I like John Brown because he is an AB-type player.
Matt
12:00
How about Bruce Irvin as the top backup @ OLB?
Gerry Dulac
12:01
They looked into that possibility earlier this season so I wouldn't discount that at all
Matt
12:02
Think Dupree gets new deal w/lower cap numbers?
Gerry Dulac
12:02
They're not going to accept the $9.2 million he counts against the cap in 2019, not with his lack of production. So, yes.

12:03
You indicated AB wants a new contract?? Yet nobody else is reporting this. Please tell me its not from that vague hashtag yesterday. I take it you have inside info from AB or his agent to tweet that.
Gerry Dulac
12:03
I indicated the same way he indicated -- with that hashtag #newdemands. What else do you think that means??
Matt
12:03
Think AB goes to Niners or Raiders for early 2nd rounder? How about Bell? Transition tag turns into trade for 3rd?
Gerry Dulac
12:06
I think you can forget about any possible trade for Bell. That would require cooperation from Bell and his agent, Adisa Bakari, and do you really think after what everyone has witnessed the past two seasons that is going happen? Does anyone really think Bell and his agent are going to do anything to help the Steelers???
Kevin
12:06
With AB demanding trades and wanting out and Steelers on the hook for $21mil in dead money, what do they really want out of a trade for him if they decide to trade him?
Gerry Dulac
12:07
Obviously, they want the best deal possible. But the cap hit they are going to take will not affect any decision and/or trade they make. They will trade him without worrying about the cap hit.

Hi Gerry, thanks for your time, it’s always appreciated. Would Marcus Gilbert have any trade value, and is Gerald Hawkins still regarded as a possible contributor?
Gerry Dulac
12:08
Marcus Gilbert would have a lot of trade value. He's one of the best RTs in the league. And, yes, Hawkins is regarded as a good prospect. He just has to stay healthy to prove it.
Matt
12:09
How about Free Agent CB Trevor Williams opposite Haden for the Steelers?
Gerry Dulac
12:09
Sounds nice. Doesn't mean it will happen.
BB
12:09
Gerry - Is there any effort underway to try and improve on their defensive secondary picks?
Gerry Dulac
12:09
There will be, rest assured.
Zack
12:09
What free agents do you think we will look at? Golden Tate, the ILB from Seattle maybe? Would we consider trading a pick for a corner like Peters?
Gerry Dulac
12:10
I wouldn't trade any pick for Marcus Peters. Bad egg
DelawareDave
12:10
I'm thinking that the 49er's 2nd round pick #36 would be a acceptable deal for AB - agree?
Gerry Dulac
12:10
I think they would agree.
