OK kids, we're going to start our chat in about 20 minutes so get your questions ready...
9:49
OK, here we go...and I'll start with this one...

Gerry, it occurs to me that very insightful questions which are asked with an unnecessary level of snarkiness tend not to get selected for a response? Your thoughts, if any? Gracias.
Gerry Dulac
9:51
Well, your definition of insightful and mine might vary, but I will point up that I usually have a hundred or so questions I can never get to because of time constraints (mine in particular). I will also point up I never mind a measure of snarkiness, particularly if it 's coming from me. Those are my thoughts.

How would you build through the draft by position?
Gerry Dulac
9:52
OL, DL, CB, in no particular order
Jake
9:52
what are you top 3 former Steeler players would you consider bringing back for 2023?
Gerry Dulac
9:52
Mel Blount, Joe Greene, Troy Polamalu. That what you mean?

9:52
If former Steelers Dupree or Hargrave hit the FA market place, would you be interested in either/both?
Gerry Dulac
9:53
Hargrave more than Bud, but the Steelers don't need to add a veteran DL. They have that w Ogunjobi, who is better than Hargrave. They need to DRAFT a stud defensive linemen, find another Cam or Tuitt.
Jerry
9:53
What do you think of my name for the offensive line? The Pickett fence
Gerry Dulac
9:54
Hahaha. I like it!!

An out of towner asked me if there was an underlying reason some locals doubt MT, I tell them the home Wild Card blowout losses to CLEVE and JAX where they fell behind 28-0 and 21-0 is one reason. One time, maybe, not two so close together. You buy it?
Gerry Dulac
9:55
Yeah, I think that's the source of the discontent -- the early playoff exits the last three appearances. And giving up 48, 45 and 42 points in those games. Let's do the math....hmmmm.... that's 45 points a game you're allowing

While he would be an ideal backup does Tribusky’s cap hit make it a certainty they cut or trade him?
Gerry Dulac
9:58
It's not a certainty, but I doubt they want to pay that for a backup. Trubisky would be a wonderful backup, but I also think he's a better QB than some other starting QBs I saw in the league this season, especially in the right system.
Jerry
9:58
Do you think Myles Jack will be back?
Gerry Dulac
10:00
That's a tough decision they have to make because he's due $8 million in salary and will count $11.25 million against the cap. They can save the $8 million if they cut him. In fact, they can save $16 million this season if they cut him and Trubisky. That being said, I think Jack was a nice addition to the defense.

Gerry:  A list of overpaid and/or medicore players and cap savings if designated a post June 1 cut.  Diontae ($10.5m), Chuks ($10m), William Jackson ($12.2m), Myles Jack ($8m), Witherspoon ($4m), Gunner O ($2m), Maulet ($1.8m).  $48.5 million of cap space could be freed up by releasing these players.  Obviously it depends on how they replace them, but couldn't most GMs find 7 better players than this group with that much cap space to pay them?
Gerry Dulac
10:04
That sound easy, but you just can't start cutting players solely because of money. Granted, some will be gone, like Jackson. They will not keep him, nor did they intend to. But, DJ, Chuks and Jack are starters, and, despite what you might think, they are not crippling the salary cap. Plus, you would probably have to pay more to get starters to replace them. Trust me, they know what they are doing when it comes to the cap.

I guess if we want to settle for mediocrity Tomlin is our guy. He has the motivation of players but his refusal to hire a coordinator, any coordinator with some amount of innovation will keep this team stuck 19-15 years in the past. I guess ownership doesn’t really care as long as we keep paying our cable bill because that’s where the money comes from.
Gerry Dulac

19-21-1 in last 41 games

Whats the odds Canada is gone and who would your first choice to replace him.
Gerry Dulac
10:05
The odds are very, very, very slim. In fact....

Two years ago the Steelers were 11-0 before losing 5 of the next 6 including the humiliating blowout home playoff loss to Cleveland. I
Gerry Dulac
10:07
And they followed that 1-5 finish by going 18-16-1

Dick LeBeau.  Bruce Arians.  Russ Grimm.  Ray Horton.  Ken Whisenhunt.  Dick Hoak.  Mark Whipple.  This is just a part of the coaching staff that Mike Tomlin inherited when he was hired.  He has completely weakened the staff.  Can you name one position group where the coaching is stronger than that staff?
Gerry Dulac
10:07
Nope
Lamar
10:08
Gerry, is there any legitimate excuse for me not attending a game we damn well could/should have won?  On a related note, have you ever skipped out on a PG Chatmasters semi-monthly meeting to gain leverage in a contract dispute? Gracias.
Gerry Dulac
10:08
See what I mean...
Uncle Larry
10:08
Should the Steelers have kept Dereck Tzuska.
Gerry Dulac
10:08
Anybody getting a sense here of what I mean...???

10:09
Gerry, will recent events finally convince me to stop jumping at the goal line with the ball extended, like it's 1983? Gracias.
Gerry Dulac
10:09
I rest my case

Why do some many believe the Steelers will draft o line early? Isn’t more realistic to believe they will lean toward getting younger on defense.I think drafting edge interior d-line corner slot corner with first 4 picks makes sense and try to get wr o-line depth in free agency need to get younger on d what’s your thought.
Gerry Dulac
10:11
They don't need OL depth. They have that. They need a young stud on the offensive line -- a Pouncey, a DeCastro -- and they don't have that. And they need the same on the DLine, a game-wrecker, a Cam, even a Tuitt.

Good Morning Gerry, Will the Steelers target an interior lineman be it offense or defense this April in Round 1?
Gerry Dulac
10:12
They should, but not interior on the OL, a tackle.

10:12
What is the one move this off-season that surprises us all?
Gerry Dulac
10:13
The offensive coordinator. Oh...I'm sorry... I thought you said disappoint
