OK kids, sorry for the delay .... computer issue. Appears to be resolved and we will begin in about 10-15 minutes.
1:47
OK, what the heck -- let's get started..!!

Hello Gerry. What is the over/under on Kenny Pickett-related questions today from Bill in LA? I will go with 3.5. LOL!
Gerry Dulac
1:51
I posted this question from near the bottom of the list first because Bill in LA actually asked the first three questions in the chat. And because none of them had anything to do with Kenny Pickett I'm actually going to answer all three of 'em now.

Gerry, are the Buffalo Bills just another team enamored with Chase Claypool’s size who will fail to unlock his brain?
Gerry Dulac
1:52
They are just getting in line with the others.

Do you think the Steelers should renegotiate Cam Heyward’s final year given that his production won’t nearly match his salary? Does Connor Heyward make the team and why or why not?
Gerry Dulac
1:53
Well, I doubt even Pro Bowl production will match that salary. But, hey, he deserves it and, no, at this point, I think they are just going to pay Cam what he is scheduled to make. As for his brother, I think he will be on the team.
Bill in LA
1:53
Why is Darius Rush on his third team in only one year? How did he flame out as a 5th round pick of the Colts so quickly and what do the Steelers see him?
Gerry Dulac
1:54
Can't answer why the Colts cut a fifth-round pick at the end of training camp, but the Chiefs picked him up for their practice squad and the Steelers claimed him off KC's practice squad. When you do that, you have to put the player on the 53-man roster

Has Cameron softened his stance on not taking a pay cut?  Comon, the Steelers wouldn't really cut the WP award winner would they?
Gerry Dulac
1:55
I don't think Cam ever had a stance to soften. The only softening is being done with the Steelers, who I am led to believe will not re-do his deal. And they are not going to cut him, rest assured.

Every team feels like they got better after the draft.  A wise guy told me everyone looks good in shorts.  What new player on the roster is most likely to not to live up to expectations?
Gerry Dulac
1:56
Way too early to tell. And, speaking of being in shorts, I won't even evaluate a player at OTAs. Waste of time. I at least want to see them in pads at training camp.

1:56
who is our backup center if Herbig fills in for an injured starting guard?
Gerry Dulac
1:56
Probably the rookie, McCormick

What are your thoughts on the Steelers not picking up Harris' 5th year option?
Gerry Dulac
1:58
Just a little surprised, but not shocked, if only because Mike Tomlin likes the guy. But the decision tells me it has to do with some financial reasoning. But I will tell you what I tell everyone who asks -- this doesn't mean the end for Najee with the Steelers. He can always be given a new two-year contract

Hi Gerry - was very confused by Warren's comments on the difference between the old QBs and the new QBs. It sounds to me like he - and presumably other offensive players are working with the new QBs. Is that true? Is this an informal thing that teams do before formal actities?
Gerry Dulac
1:59
Happens all the time. Informal workouts are routine, especially with new players. Trubisky did it right after he arrived, too.

Is there any validity to any of this WR trade discussion. Would you be inclined to think Omar is waiting it out and let other teams be in the position of rushing to make a business decision of a deal so his compensation lessions?
Gerry Dulac
2:01
Not to the degree some people are making it sounds. I don't think Omar Khan is deliberately playing a waiting game. I just think he's not going to jump in on some outlandish deal.

Are we getting a new WR before training camp to add to our mix and begin to work in to the O?
Gerry Dulac
2:01
You never know. But I wouldn't just plan on it.

Very few running backs were taken in the early rounds of the draft.  Does Warren's impact as an undrafted player reflect the overall NFL mentality that good running backs are prevalent without wasting a draft pick , or did the Steelers get lucky?  Also, what could this devaluing of the running back position mean for Harris' future as a Steeler?
Gerry Dulac
2:03
The devaluing of the NFL RB has been going on for several years because they have a short shelf life. And, yes, teams are seeing they can get good running backs on day 3 of the draft, even later, like Warren.

Gerry put a percentage on the Steelers signing Cam Sutton.

Can we go into 2024 with the WR room that currently exists and maintain the desired results of which I’d assume is at least one win in the playoffs.
Gerry Dulac
2:04
I think so. But I think they would feel better -- and so would everyone else apparently -- if they had that proven guy to pair with Pickens. That being said, I really like Roman Wilson.

Gerry, is the Steelers #2 WR on the roster currently? If not, who do you think it is?
Gerry Dulac
2:05
We'll see.

I just don’t get it, Gerry.  Why all the grief from readers regarding treatment of Pickett vs Rudolph?  I ask my fellow readers who they sincerely pass on their well wishes to with his new team.  The answer would probably mirror that of the entire organization too.  All the best Mason!

Regarding Fields: in an attempt to succinctly quantify why he underperformed in Chicago, can you take an educated guess at what percentage of each category below contributed to his poor performance there? A) lack of physical tools (eg. ability to make all required throws), B) mentally lacking (e.g. ability to read defenses), C) underwhelming Offensive talent around him (e.g. competent players on O-line, RB, WR, TE), D) coaching decisions (e.g. offensive scheme, playbook, offense too one-dimensional), E) Coaches (e.g. competency, coach turnovers). Thanks; appreciate your chats.
Gerry Dulac
2:06
I can't answer all those because I wasn't in Chicago to know what was going on with Fields and the coaches, bvut I can tell you it is not (A)

Hey Gerry! By all accounts the Steelers have had a second consecutive winning offseason. Remember when the Jets and Commanders won the offseason every single year and the Steelers won in January? Good times...
Gerry Dulac
2:07
Yes they have. But you wouldn't be suggesting....
