Hey everyone, hope you're all wrapping up a good week
Looking forward to another one of these, let's get going

Over/under: 2 players accept a qualifying offer this year (and who will they be)?
Anthony Franco
3:02
Hmm, it's hard for me to see it going over two but I could buy it being that on the nose. Under feels likelier than over though
Taijuan Walker and J.D. Martinez maybe?
Chip
3:03
It would be really nice to have the Sunday night chats earlier for those of us on the east coast,.
Anthony Franco
3:03
Yeah I know you've been pushing for this for a while. I'm just not sure how viable it is for Mark. He's the only one working on Sunday nights, and news takes precedence over the chats
3:04
On Sundays, the news tends to be concentrated in the afternoon and early evening since almost all the games are early (so teams announce roster moves earlier than on most weekdays). The deadest part of the shift is the last couple hours, which is why it's typically the best time for him to run that particular chat

ROS NL only O. Cruz or V Grissom?
Anthony Franco
3:05
I'll take Oneil. Not convinced Grissom stays up once Albies is back

Nats reload questions: Do you agree that when new owners arrive with money, the two highest priorities should be a starting pitcher and a third baseman? If so, whoi should they go after this winter or next to fill those needs? Also, how much would it take to bring back either Trea Turner or Josh Bell, even thought they play positions that are probably lesser needs?
Anthony Franco
3:06
I can't see any way they go after Turner or Bell. I think Trea's going to get like 8/260, Bell around 4/75. This is a complete rebuild now though, not something they're going to buy their way out of within an offseason
3:07
Eventually pitching's going to be a priority, but for the time being, I think they'll kind of round it out with stopgap types like Zach Davies or a Matt Boyd reclamation flier
3:08
As for third base, I could see that being a target area down the line at some point but assume they'll give Carter Kieboom one more chance next year. That was a tough sell when they were trying to put a competitive roster around Soto. Now that that's out the window, might as well see if he can put anything together once he's healthy. The 2023 team is going to be dreadful either way
Blue Jays
3:08
Could you see us trading from our catching depth for someone like Bradbson Woodruff?
Anthony Franco
3:09
I think they're going to trade a catcher (probably Jansen) for starting pitching help this winter, yeah. I don't know how willing Milwaukee's going to be to move Woodruff specifically though
3:10
Jansen wouldn't be able to headline that kind of deal. You'd probably be talking about Kirk or Moreno as the centerpiece there, if the Brewers are open to it at all
ooops
3:10
I gave up on Nicky Lopez after he stole just 6 bases in the first half of the season. In the past 21 days, he's stolen another 6. Will Myles Straw exhibit a similar turn-around, given that he seems incapable of stealing first?
Anthony Franco
3:11
Sure I could see that. Straw's a bad hitter but I don't think he's this level of awful. He's running a .246 BABIP right now which is really low for a guy who runs as well as he does. A few more singles falling in seems viable, and they'll let him run once he's on

Why did the Twins DFA Duffey but not Pagan?
Anthony Franco
3:12
Pagán's still striking a ton of guys out. Duffey was not
3:13
I think there's a case to be made for them giving up on Pagán too. He's super homer-prone and the results have been terrible for three years now because of it. But it seems like they're still holding out some hope that evens out and he can be effective again because he does miss a ton of bats

The Mets have a ton of free agents after this year. Who do you think is gone this winter?
Guest
3:14
Of all the Mets free agents - deGrom, Bassitt, Nimmo, Diaz, Walker, Lugo - who do they resign
Anthony Franco
3:14
As of right now, I'd probably pick Bassitt, Nimmo and Lugo to walk

Did teams know that Raisel Iglesius was available?  That trade shocked me.  I think he would have been perfect for the Mets
Anthony Franco
3:15
Definitely came out of left field publicly but I'm sure the Angels put word out there to teams. Mostly came down to the Braves being willing to take the whole contract off their hands, which it seems no other team wanted to do

What do you think ends up happening with Torrens? Feels like there’s at least one team out there who’d take a chance on his bat, even with the drop-off from last season. Defense is obviously an issue, it was jarring to see just how much better numbers Seattle’s pitching staff has with Raleigh compared to him.
Anthony Franco
3:19
I think he'll get claimed but end up being DFA again by the offseason. The defense is bad enough that some teams are just going to write off any possibility he can catch. And the fact that he's out of options is going to give other teams the same problem Seattle had in that they'll have to stash him on the active roster

Anthony, what would a Shohei Ohtani deal look like in the offseason? Would a trade with the Dodgers give the Angels the best return of quality propects? Of course, Arte Moreno will probably hold out until the 2023 offseason and just let him walk, even though the Angels have a zero chance of resigning Ohtani and would lose him for a draft pick or nothing at all if the MLBPA and MLB can agree to the establishment of an international draft.
Angels won’t have the luxury to resign Ohtani anyway. They are going to have to leave the DH spot open for Trout and Rendon to take care of their fragile bodies. Any thoughts?
Anthony Franco
3:19
Well it seems like the international draft talks are dead and the qualifying offer's staying, but that's an ancillary point
3:20
I don't expect Ohtani to be traded this offseason, although I think they'd get two top 100 caliber prospects (plus a couple extra pieces) even for one year of him if they did move him. Seems likelier they'll try to make a run at it again next year and deal him at the deadline if they're bad
I don't think he's re-signing

Does Sanchez return to Miami soon and if he does should I care? Would need to cut Berti or Marsh for him.  Looking at this year only.
Anthony Franco
3:21
Sixto? I don't see any appeal in redraft there
Oh, maybe this is Jesús?
3:22
In that case, still don't see the appeal haha
3:23
I'd rather have the guys who are in the majors now, seems like Berti will be back any day
Bob
3:23
You don't think the Mets re-sign deGrom?? Where does he go then?
Anthony Franco
3:23
I'd pick Bassitt, Lugo and Nimmo to sign elsewhere from that group, sorry
