Hey everyone, hope you're having a good week!
3:00
Exciting time of the offseason with stuff starting to pick back up, let's discuss

In what order do you think the FA shortstops will sign?  (No money or teams here...Just the order.)
Anthony Franco
3:00
Starting with one that'll probably be proven wrong in the next five days haha
3:01
I'll go Trea, Dansby, Bogaerts, Correa

Happy Holidays, Anthony. Who are a few bullpen arms that the Angels could target both in FA and trade? They really could use a couple of power arms who can come in and get a strikeout in a clutch situation.
Anthony Franco
3:02
Happy holidays to you as well! Agree that the bullpen's the priority there now and they should be in on pretty much everybody available
3:03
There are a bunch of guys at or just off our Top 50 -- Carlos Estévez, Seth Lugo, Taylor Rogers, Adam Ottavino, Chris Martin, Will Smith, Andrew Chafin, David Robertson -- who each seem like viable fits for the Halos
3:04
Tommy Kahnle's kind of interesting as an upside play with huge injury risk who'll probably be a little cheaper
From a trade perspective, Scott Barlow's the best reliever I think has a real shot of moving. Detroit could deal any of Joe Jiménez, Alex Lange or Gregory Soto

Happy Friday.  What's your take on Brandon Lowe?  Is he ready to play healthy and attain his sweet offensive numbers?
Anthony Franco
3:07
Ha well played on the pun. I'm a little skeptical about him getting back to the 2019-21 peak. The slightly deader ball probably doesn't do him a ton of favors, since his exit velocities are good but not eye-popping. He's not overly physical so much as he's really good at pulling the ball in the air to maximize what power he has
3:08
That said, he's still really valuable as a second baseman who can hit 25-30 homers, even if I don't expect him to chase 40 again. I have no reason to believe he can't come back from the injuries this year and be a productive player

My Nationals go first in the Rule 5 draft and have 2 slots open on the 40-man roster. Anyone close to "can't miss" available?
Anthony Franco
3:10
Nah this just isn't how the Rule 5 works. If there were can't miss prospects who would've been eligible, their teams added them to the 40-man
3:11
I'm sure they'll take a shot on a player or two they like, but the Rule 5 draft order itself is never really a huge deal. It's more about how well your scouting department does on finding an interesting player that's kind of off everybody's radar
3:12
Akil Baddoo, Garrett Whitlock and Trevor Stephan were all selected in 2020, which was one of the best Rule 5 classes in recent memory. The Pirates had the first pick and took José Soriano, who never pitched for them and eventually ended up back with the Angels. The Rule 5 is really hard

The Rays signing Eflin surprised me.  Does this mean they are now looking to trade other starting pitchers?
Anthony Franco
3:13
I'm sure they're open to offers on guys like Rasmussen or Springs but no, I don't see why this would force them into anything. Just confirms they're not bringing back Kluber, which most people expected anyways
Brian cashman
3:13
Do you see us trading for jt chargois or James karinchak
Anthony Franco
3:13
Very specific bullpen targets for the Yankees haha. The Marlins just traded for Chargois, doubt they're flipping him. Could see Cleveland moving Karinchak, sure

What would it take for the White Sox to trade for Brandon Lowe?
Dano
3:13
Speaking of Lowe, does Josh have a decent shot at a regular job in Tampa?
Anthony Franco
3:16
Yeah he's still the everyday second baseman in TB if healthy. A ton of trade appeal, to the point where I don't think the White Sox are getting this done without subtracting from the MLB roster. If you build around Kopech and Colson Montgomery, maybe you're getting Tampa's attention, but I don't see him as an especially likely trade candidate this winter
Chris
3:16
Do you think Matt Harvey will pitch in 2023 in MLB?
Anthony Franco
3:16
I do not, would be surprised if he ever pitches in the majors again
3:17
Even independent of the drug distribution suspension, he's been so ineffective for so long
GM P.M.
3:17
Is Swanson coming to Anaheim? Or are the Angels rolling with some combo of Rengifo/Fletcher/Urshela at SS?
Anthony Franco
3:17
Think it's the latter. They've been aggressive this winter but with shorter-term adds to the payroll. Don't them going six-plus years on anybody
Vegas Lee
3:17
do you see former Angels manager Joe Maddon ever getting a mgr spot again in MLB.......
Anthony Franco
3:18
Yeah I think he'll get another shot at some point
Dano
3:18
Sorry my question must not have been clear - I was asking about Josh Lowe and his chances at a regular job in 2023.
Anthony Franco
3:18
Ha no your question was perfectly clear. I just somehow skimmed right by the name Josh in there. Sorry about that
3:20
Center field job feels like Siri's to start with. Guessing Josh Lowe ends up back in Durham to start with, but Siri isn't such a roadblock the Rays would be opposed to giving Lowe another look if he makes more contact in Triple-A
The Goose at Chavez Ravine

Ryan Peiot or Gavin Stone for Ahed Rosario, who says no?
Anthony Franco
3:20
Dodgers aren't giving up a guy like that for one year of Rosario

Why are we looking at kolton Wong and moving lux to Third. Why not go all in on a top SS. We have Muncy at second or third
Anthony Franco
3:21
Just feels like throwing everything at the wall early in the offseason. I don't think they'd actually do that once things come down to it
3:22
I don't think they'll end up getting Wong to begin with, but if they did, it feels like he'd a backup plan if they sit out the top of the shortstop market. Muncy's there, as you mentioned, and I buy they want to give Miguel Vargas a chance to run with the third base job

Is it better to sign verlander for a shorter contract or maybe a Rodon. Hopefully Buehler will be ok and go with a 6 man rotation
