Going to get started in a couple minutes, have to sign for an ill-timed UPS delivery real quick
3:02
Sorry about that
3:03
Hope you're all wrapping up a good week, let's talk about the postseason and offseason to-do lists

Besides resigning Dansby and good health for Soeoka and astride, what steps should Alex take toward a great 2023?  Does he extend Jansen?
Anthony Franco
3:05
Yeah I think shortstop (most likely by keeping Swanson) is the big concern for the Braves. Roster's pretty well set beyond that. Guessing they'll let Jansen walk and hope that a full season from Kirby Yates can fill that role for cheaper
3:06
They'll probably look for a cheap corner outfield/DH type, particularly if they move on from Ozuna. The payroll's pretty high already though, and if they do manage to keep Swanson, doubt there's much room beyond that

There have been a bunch of rookie and sophomore starters who have been inconsistent this year. Which ones have the ingredients for the most future success: Luis Garcia (Hou), Bailey Ober, Brady Singer, Brayan Bello, Josh Winder, Jose Suarez, Michael Kopech.
Anthony Franco
3:08
I think Garcia has the best blend of upside and floor. Bello probably the best ceiling but real command concerns. I think Winder and Kopech are better served as relievers (although the Sox probably use Kopech as a starter next season)
3:09
Singer's a solid #3 type but likely regresses a little from this season because he still doesn't have a good changeup. Ober/Suarez are fine 4/5 types

Should the Rangers add Belt as a defensive alternative to Lowe and let Lowe DH or does Abreu, Bellinger Hoskins make for a better fit?
Anthony Franco
3:09
With Lowe already in place, I'd rather see them go after a guy who's capable of playing some corner outfield than any of Abreu, Belt or Hoskins
3:10
Bellinger certainly can but he's not the kind of bat who's going to transform the lineup. He's a viable fit but not the same kind of player as the others you suggested at this point of his career, much more defense-focused
3:11
I just like them more on the Joc Pederson/Michael Conforto types than any of the first basemen though
Chuck D
3:11
If Judge never plays in pinstripes again, do the Yanks  still put him in their Hall of Fame for breaking such a monumental team record?
Anthony Franco
3:11
My first instinct was absolutely, but I just looked at the Yankees Ring of Honor and man it's a great group
3:13
I still think yes. Judge was a more impactful regular season player than, say, Paul O'Neill. But basically everyone in there has contributed to a World Series winner (multiple winners, in most cases). Judge's case becomes a lot stronger if they win the title this year

I believe the Phillies will trade for a backend starting pitcher and pursue a shortstop (Turner) in free agency.  Your thoughts?
Anthony Franco
3:15
I'm skeptical they'll want to make another commitment of that magnitude to a free agent position player. There's an obvious roster fit and money to spend next year, so it's certainly viable, but I'd guess they're more likely to splurge on a shorter-term deal for an impact pitcher and go with Stott at shortstop

Your picks for today's winners? Besides Cleveland...
Anthony Franco
3:16
Well I would've had Tampa, so I'm 0-1
Give me the other home teams
Rangers13
3:16
If they signed Conforto and Pederson do you think those two provide enough offense that they could trade Garcia for pitching? 25/25/100 and Gold Glove defense will be hard to replace.
Anthony Franco
3:18
Yeah I don't think you're going to directly replace Garcia in that situation. There just aren't many players like him. But I could see them thinking it's a worthwhile trade-off if they sign a bat considering they'll need two  new above-average starting pitchers this offseason and probably won't sign them both

Which superstar(s) will sign an extension before FA begins?
Anthony Franco
3:19
I wouldn't consider Dansby a superstar but he's the only of the top impending FA's I think has a greater than like 10% chance of signing an extension at this point
3:20
I'd be shocked if Turner or Correa do, very surprised if the Red Sox get Bogaerts done. Fully expect all the top pitchers, Nimmo, Contreras to get to the market
I guess there's some chance of José Abreu signing early if he counts
Don
3:20
Do you see Riley Greene being a 30 home run guy?  Thanks!
Anthony Franco
3:22
That's a little heavy for me. Still like him a lot but think it's more 20-25 homers annually at peak. He's always hit a ton of ground balls
Hopeful Tiger fan

Our new POBO said recently we need to take "calculated risks" to catch up to our competitors. What do you think that is ?
Anthony Franco
3:23
Generally I think it's just standard phrasing to suggest they're not going to dive right back into the upper tiers of free agency this winter given the number of holes on the roster
3:24
They're going to have to bring in some help at catcher, in the rotation and probably at an infield position (assuming Candelario gets non-tendered). For the most part though, I expect Harris to slow-play it and see how Greene/Torkelson develop next year
Manny
3:24
Is Manuel Margot doomed to be a slightly above BA hitter with little power or speed?
Anthony Franco
3:25
He has decent enough speed but yeah, I think this is what he is. Don't expect a late-career power breakout or anything
He's a good player though. Not a star but a viable hitter who's an excellent defender throughout the outfield
The Big O
3:25
I'm watching the playoff this morning, and there in Cleveland's lineup is Oscar Gonzalez hitting .296 with 11 HR. Yet commentators seem to hate his fundamentals. is there a "there" there?
Anthony Franco
3:26
Yeah Gonzalez is weird because he doesn't seem like the most fluid athlete and he swings at everything. It doesn't feel like it should work, but as you said, it certainly has so far
3:28
I still think he'll be prone to pretty dramatic fluctuations in performance given the lack of patience at the plate. But he's clearly strong and has better bat-to-ball skills than I would've thought. I'm not all in but he's been much better than I anticipated so far, so I'm coming around
