Ohhhh new  website design is sick!  With fancy chat and everything.

When are you going to get Romitaman on a podcast ?
Felix Lu
1:02
It's not a unilateral decision! He has to agree to do it first! We actually talked about it during the whole shilling scandal. Came close, but didn't happen. Maybe down the line.
Mark
1:02
How would you recommend selling pieces that we already own?
Felix Lu
1:03
It depends on the piece. Certain pieces belong at certain venues.
Dylan
1:03
When are we going to see some more great art from Dragotta on the site?
Felix Lu
1:03
Soon! VERY soon!
Mark Balas
1:03
All of my original art is in portfolios, but there are a few pieces I'd love to frame and hang. My big worries, though, are that the framer will ruin the art when mounting it, or that it will fade with constant exposure to light. What specific instructions should I give/questions should I ask a prospective framer?
Felix Lu
1:05
Just express all your concerns to the framer. Do your homework on them ahead of time (get recommendations from people you trust). No matter how you frame, though, keep art out of direct light. Even the best museum glass won't fully protect your art from direct sunlight.
Mark Balas
1:05
How specific should I be when requesting a commission, outside of character/costume era?
Felix Lu
1:07
Depends on the artist. For us, best to just let tell us character/costume era. Let the artist take it from there. Excessive art direction tends to hinder creativity. You're paying for an artist to do their thing...let them.

Hi John, glad you could join.

What is the best way to catalog one’s comic art collection?
Felix Lu
1:08
A spreadsheet? I just use CAF!
John E
1:08
I’m wondering what are collectors’ thoughts on prelims? Are there any artists whose prelims are highly sought?
Felix Lu
1:09
Depends on the artist! Prelims are not a big deal to me. Meaning, I don't need prelims for every finished piece I own. They're nice to have, but not essential.
1:10
But for artists whose published work is more than I'd like to pay, I'll settle for a prelim. Some prelims are quite finished, too.
DJ POPE FRANCIS
1:10
Are these going through
Felix Lu
1:10
Yup!
Simon Miller
1:10
Is this now a full time gig for you now Felix, or do you have something close to a day job?
Felix Lu
1:11
It's been a full-time gig from the day I started. All-in, baby!
Nick Pitarra
1:11
I think its...put it in a safe...frame a nice color copy.
Felix Lu
1:11
Thanks Nick...your replies will now be live!
Murray G
1:11
Why do some older published pages have their corners trimmed off?  Does this effect desirablility?
Felix Lu
1:12
Art used to be photographed by production. So corners were taped down. The corners would then get sliced off with a razor. Does not effect desirability, it was just a function of the era.
Nick Pitarra
1:12
old portfolios used to be hexagon shaped only.
Chuck
1:12
Mark, I have Mattes cut for UV blocking glass frames to save money and keeps framers hands off the art and keeps me from having to pay for custom frames. If you want to go that route.
andy

Woo Hoo!!!!
Alex Ogle
1:13
Do you ever loan pieces out to small galleries to display for a limited time? I have a small gallery I run and only display my limited collection of comic art.
Nick Pitarra
1:13
We made it Andy!
Felix Lu
1:13
I have loaned in the past. Will only loan in the future if institution as iron clad insurance/security. Unfortunately, that tends to eliminate the smaller galleries.
Jared
1:14
I use https://www.arttoframe.com/ and you can pick the size and glass that you want.
Josh

I've only managed to get one of my OA pieces framed. Museum/archival glass was recommended and it's pretty. Can't even tell it's there!
Michael Hranek

Miss the YouTube videos of people's collections.

More are coming!

Hey - we're moderated here?
Felix Lu
1:15
You are.
Josh
1:15
Do you feel that most of your commission peeps prefer a "do whatever you want" request over anything specific?
Felix Lu
1:16
Depends on the artist. But we do have fun with Artist's Choice requests. They've also turned out to be some of the best pieces of art, if we're strictly evaluating the art.

Hey Nick - I've always thought you should include the prelims along with your commissions - they are great and show the process.  Is this something you've considered?

Felix, I know people on the CGC board were asking you about disabling sold pages on the site. Does the new one address that, or still up in the air? I've not spent enough time there to discover that answer.
