Hey everyone! Kyle Yates here from the FantasyPros Football Podcast. Let's spend the next hour together going through your fantasy football questions! I'll do my best to get to all of them!
Brian

I know that drafting another position player instead of a kicker or DST in the last 2 rounds is a good draft season strategy. At what point in the offseason do you usually abandon it, though?
Kyle Yates
1:03
Good question, Brian. I absolutely want to forfeit those positions and take dart throws with my later picks, which I can then drop right before the start of the season. I'm willing to deploy this strategy this year right up until week one of the NFL season as players could be announced as surprise inactives right up until game time, essentially. So I'll drop those dart throws the day before my week one matchup to make sure that I'm all set with my kicker and DST, but otherwise I'm going to hold onto them as long as I can.

What if any are your expectations for OJ Howard or Will Dissly. Both are backup TE in Dynasty. Do I need an upgrade with Henry as my number 1
Kyle Yates
1:04
OJ Howard certainly could have value this year if Gronk gets injured, but it's going to be hard to see him having standalone value. The same goes for Dissly who has Greg Olsen in front of him too in Seattle. I'd definitely look to upgrade at TE and maybe go after someone like Hayden Hurst or Jonnu Smith. However, I'd wait until after the August 3rd opt-out deadline for NFL players. You don't want to trade for Jonnu Smith and then find out that he's going to be sitting out the entire season...

How far do I take the "Teams are going to limit rookies due to the Pandemic" narrative, and what position groups/players are the most and least affected? Thank you! Go Bills!
Kyle Yates
1:07
All this does is push back the expected adjustment period a few weeks. Without the ability to play in the preseason, rookies shouldn't come right out of the gate and be viable fantasy options. RBs should get up to speed pretty quickly, so maybe expect players like Jonathan Taylor or CEH to be the starter from week 3 on...however, WRs are going to take longer to adjust. I'd just temper expectations and maybe knock them down a few spots in rankings.

Hey Kyle, last year I picked Chris Carson and Rashad Penny to ensure I get the starter in the Seahawks backfield. Do you think it is prudent to do that this year with Ronald Jones and Keyshawn Vaughn?
Kyle Yates
1:08
This year, I love this strategy, especially. This is going to be a dynamic offense and I'd love to ensure that I've locked up the RB spot. I expect Jones to start the season for a few weeks, but Vaughn should take over the starting role eventually.

Ito Smith or Brian Hill or ... as Gurley's Handcuff? Also does the handcuff change, if he sits out the season? And what are the chances he does sit out the season?
Kyle Yates
1:09
I personally think it's going to be Brian Hill. However, if Gurley misses time, I would expect them to go to a committee approach. We'd see Ollison, Hill, and Smith all be involved...which would be just gross from a fantasy perspective.

Out of all the tricky backfields(Rams,Colts,Bucs), which is most likely to produce a single workhorse back?
Kyle Yates
1:10
I personally think it's the Bucs! The Rams are saying that they want to utilize a committee, the Colts will always have Mack and Hines involved in some capacity, but the Bucs could absolutely rely on just one RB.

Hey Kyle! I asked Bobby this question a few weeks back, but I wanted to ask you as well. In a 12 team dynasty start up do you think early second round is too early to pick Kenyan Drake? I had the ninth pick in my draft and started the draft off taking Joe Mixon and Kenyan Drake which Bobby said was a "dream start". What do you think?
Kyle Yates
1:11
I love that, personally. It's all dependent on who is still left on the board though, obviously. But without that context available to me, I love starting out a Dynasty startup with Mixon and Drake. I just did that recently myself, actually!

Kenyan Drake, Miles Sanders, Josh Jacobs. Rank them and why.
Kyle Yates
1:13
The scoring format obviously plays a role here, but it's going to be Drake, Jacobs, and Sanders for me. Jacobs has the talent to be the No. 1, but he's not going to see the necessary targets out of the backfield. Sanders is in a great offense, but I don't expect him to see 275+ touches on the season.
CJ
1:13
disregarding roster construction or starting requirements, in a dynasty league (PPR) would you rather draft Rashaad Penny or Bryan Edwards this year?
Kyle Yates
1:13
It's still Penny right now, but I do love Bryan Edwards long-term. I think you can go and acquire Edwards for cheap later on or even pick him up off of your waiver wire. Whereas, Penny has a chance to be the starting RB when he comes back.

Keeper league do I keep Alvin kamara or dalvin cook or Lamar jackson
Kyle Yates
1:16
Well, news just came out (literally right now) that Cook just reported for Covid-19 testing, which means that he's reported for training camp. This obviously makes the decision a little tougher...if there's no specific cost involved, I might go with Kamara. However, Cook and Kamara are back to back in my rankings.  I don't think you can go wrong either way. Jackson's tempting, but the positional value difference is too great to let a top-tier RB go.

Is there an argument to be made and am I crazy for leaning towards Derrick Henry in standard leagues over guys like Zeke/Kamara?
Kyle Yates
1:18
There's certainly an argument. However, Zeke is simply too involved as a receiver out of the backfield, which gives him a safer floor from a receiving yardage perspective. Henry has to finish with 300+ carries and 12+ rushing TDs in order to hit that same mark and that's a scary place to be gambling on...

  • We all know that Michael Thomas is wr Uno.Who do you rank 2and 3 this year and the same for rbs.who is 2 and 3 after Mcaffrey
Kyle Yates
1:19
Absolutely! I do have MT and CMC No. 1 for each respective position.

After that, I have Julio Jones and Davante Adams at 2 & 3.

For RB, I have Saquon and Zeke at 2 &3.

Thanks for your time & help. *DYNASTY* Within reason can you see Baker Mayfield hit his ceiling and end up top 10-5? If not, he hits his floor, what would you do with him? Hold, trade or just leave him on the fringe of your roster with the possibility of release if you can acquire a more hopeful talent? Thanks again & stay safe. Love you FantasyPros!
Kyle Yates
1:21
I do not think that Mayfield hits his ceiling this season due to the offense that he's playing in. While he's talented, he's not going to see the necessary passing volume to get into the top-10 at the position. If he somehow does that, he's going to do it on the back of ridiculous TD production and that's very hard to project. With that in mind, I'm fine holding onto him if I can rely on him as a solid QB2 for my roster. If he's my QB1, I'd look to trade him as part of a package deal for someone like Carson Wentz, Deshaun Watson, etc. However, do that after he has a big game so that his Dynasty stock is at its highest point. Don't trade him away after he has a poor game...you won't get as high of a ROI.

I get to keep five from last year's roster (2QB, Standard scoring league). Already have M Thomas, D Adams, T Gurley, K Murray locked in.

Who should I take as my 5th - M Gordon, J Conner, C Sutton, E Engram? Many thanks!  - Side note I have the #3 draft spot.
Kyle Yates
1:22
For me, it's Sutton. I know that I can then get another solid RB at that No. 3 spot. I'm a big fan of Sutton this season.

Am I better of stacking a Wilson with a Metcalf or just picking a QB like Prescott as my QB1?  1/2 point PPR , 1 QB.
Kyle Yates
1:23
ADP plays a huge part in this conversation. If I have to choose between Wilson and Prescott at their current ADPs, I'm going to go with Wilson. The stack just makes that that much sweeter.

3 player keeper league - you keep Mixon, Chubb and Adams.  You're on the clock - CEH or Godwin - who ya got? .5 pt ppr, 2RB, 2WR, 1 Flex.
Kyle Yates
1:24
If you had asked me a month ago, CEH would have definitely been in consideration. However, with no preseason now, I'm expecting CEH to take a bit to get up to speed and be the starting RB. I'll go Godwin there. That's a scary team.

Hey Kyle, I'm picking four in my PPR draft next month. In most mocks, CMC, Saquon and Zeke come off the board. I'll take the best player available when on clock, but if it's a Michael Thomas/Kamara call, who are you taking in PPR? Do you want to grab one of those few elite workhorse backs in Kamara?
Kyle Yates
1:25
I would go Kamara there, personally. Either him or Dalvin Cook, who appears like he's set to play this year now. I love the value later on at WR this year and I'll stock up at RB early at that spot.
Woody
1:25
What players are you not leaving your drafts without Kyle, even if it means reaching for your guys a round or two early? Ps love the work from you Tags, Bobby, Dan Harris and the FP team. Best in the business in my opinion.
Kyle Yates
1:27
Thank you so much! For me, I want guys like Jonnu Smith or Hayden Hurst at TE. Hurst's ADP is climbing, but Smith's is actually falling. I'll take the cheaper option.

At QB, I want to get Tyrod Taylor or Cam Newton if I'm going to be streaming the position.

At RB, I want David Montgomery. He's going to get so much volume this year and the offense should be much improved.

At WR, I want guys like Calvin Ridley and Robert Woods. Every time.

Will Damien Harris be the starting RB for the Pats this year?
Kyle Yates
1:28
With the recent news about Sony Michel and the possibility that he's not ready to start training camp, it's not out of the question. Michel might take over once he's healthy again if Harris isn't just incredible, but he could be valuable for a few games.

Which 3-5 names, outside of the consensus top ~15 overall fantasy players, do you peg as having the highest upside this year (1/2 ppr)?
