Hey folks, we'll get started in a moment.
Question Mark
1:02
Do you think that Wander Franco is worth holding onto in a keeper league? Or is this the end of his short but successful ride?
Brad Johnson
1:04
Soooo, I think you can justify either approach. Without getting into the moral stakes too much, you might be happier discarding him and doing your best to forget.
If the allegations are accurate, he's done.
1:05
If they're accurate but unsubstantiated, there's a chance he returns after a long suspension like Bauer (he's probably back next year after his success in Japan).
But do you really want him in that case? I dunno.
1:06
I know Bauer's off my draft board if for no other reason than I don't have to think about it.
And, I dunno, maybe he's actually innocent and can prove it. Feels unlikely.
1:07
That as much insight as I have into "what should I do about Wander"
Felix Sadness
1:07
Felix Bautista had 110 k's in 61 innings this year. No question.

Time to move on from Alcantra? Keller is available and has a favorable matchup this week.
Brad Johnson
1:08
No, Alcantara is better than Keller. There might be a time in the coming weeks when you turn Alcantara into a streaming spot.
It's not yet, and it's not for Keller.

I have Cano already, but should I back him up with another Baltimore reliever?  Cano has been good, but a bit mortal since his scoreless streak to start the season. Same question for the White Sox. Should I back up their current closer?
Brad Johnson
1:10
I might not bother with Santos. His backup is Aaron Bummer, and he's having a rough go of it.
Kind of a similar story with the Orioles. Fujinami has closer traits but random number generates when he enters the game.
1:11
At a certain level of desperation, it makes sense to stash those guys
1:12
But, in most cases, you don't want to take on the ERA/WHIP risk

Kiley McDaniel recently listed Colson Montgomery as his #2 overall prospect.  That's much higher than he is listed on any other site that I've seen.  Do you see any justification for this ranking?
Brad Johnson
1:12
That's wild
1:13
I've been out of touch with Kiley for a long time, so I can't speak to his process.
1:14
There's certainly much to like about Montgomery, but I can't even squint him into top 20 candidacy let alone top 2.
1:15
My guess is Colson's very good at some niche measurement Kiley likes right now.
1:16
For me, he's a package of flashy traits until we actually see something show up in-game. He's discipline-forward, high contact, good batted distribution, modest in-game power.
Looks like a 3 WAR player to me.

Hi, Brad. 5x5 and I need HR, runs, SB, and BA in roughly that order.  (I have RBI locked up.) Garrett Cooper or Tyler O'Neill ROS? Thanks!
Brad Johnson
1:18
Probably Cooper since O'Neill has a knee thing that might sap power/speed even if he avoids the IL.
Could be nothing. I don't have much of an opinion if they're full strength. Cooper seems a tad better overall but doesn't run.
You could try Davis Schneider for a few days then reboot the decision

How do see Goodman performing ROS in Colorado? Is he on the radar for '24 in COL?
Brad Johnson
1:19
Goodman is big time power and little else. These types are extremely volatile. If the scouting report is wrong, he could hit 10 dingers ROS. I think the likeliest outcome is he's just a terrible Quad-A slugger.
1:21
Soooo, fantasy use case: use him if you need to catch a Hoskinsian miracle in the HR department. Skip him if you can't risk a bunch of zeroes.
Hou vs Sea
1:21
It sounds like Michael Brantley will be returning soon. Do I activate him and dump Dominic Canzone, or keep Canzone and dump Brantley?
Brad Johnson
1:22
I think I'd take a stab at Brantley playing like himself over Canzone. The upshot to Canzone is he can run a little. Though he mostly hasn't this year. Also hits for OK power. Brantley's just a AVG and run production machine.

Who do you trust less to get you saves at this point - Will Smith or Clay Holmes?
Brad Johnson
1:22
Smith
1:23
Smith has a longer history with longish slumps.
Holmes seems to just have random off days

Does Baty make it back to the majors this year? Should I care if he does? Is he still the 3B of the future for the Mets?
Brad Johnson
1:24
I feel like he probably does, even if it's for the last week of the season. Yeah, they want him to be their guy going forward. Still a lot to like, though I'm not sure I'd care for 2023. In fact, I'll go ahead and say I'm not paying him any attention
