Welcome folks, we'll get started in a few moments.
Steve

What are the metrics you're looking at in the early part of the season when deciding whose hot starts are for real or whose struggles will improve?
Brad Johnson
1:05
Mainly EVs for hitters and velocity/repertoire mix/pitch interactions for pitchers.
DTR
1:05
Best pitcher to have in fantasy? Trea Turner for Alcantara?
Brad Johnson
1:06
I wouldn't do Turner for Alcantara.
1:07
I also definitely prefer Cole, Gausman, probably Urias, Burnes, and deGrom
1:08
I consider Framber and Alcantara roughly equivalent if you want a cheaper alternative
Drafty

Trea Turner for Judge. Who says no?
Brad Johnson
1:09
No telling, really. If you have too many SBs and need power, then you happily trade Turner for Judge. If you lack speed and have plenty of power, then you want Turner. They're both 1st overall picks.

Will the Cardinals make a trade before the trade deadline
Brad Johnson
1:09
Of course

Would you drop Sean Murphy for Cal Raleigh? 10 team h2h points
Brad Johnson
1:10
In 10 team, I think you can be aggressive chasing the hot hand. In deeper formats, I'm confident Murphy is around the 8th best C
That's basically rep level in 10-team which is why you can make the move
Esteury Ruiz
1:10
Worth rostering in a 5x5 12-teamer?
Brad Johnson
1:10
Yea, so long as you don't have to use him too often. A good speculative bench guy you can play in soft matchups
Guest
1:11
Is Perdomo a good pick up
Brad Johnson
1:11
Depends on the league depth, but probably not. Still isn't impacting the ball.
Tripp
1:12
Do you think this is a “re-breakout” season for Moncada? Is there a reason to believe?
Brad Johnson
1:12
It could be. I think we know Moncada struggles when unhealthy. He's reaching an age where he should be gaining a better understanding of when to go all out and when to ease off a bit.
1:13
Last year was also weird for him - first time he wasn't a BABIP king.
Chester Copperpot
1:13
Is Wander Franco's power he's displaying currently sustainable?
Brad Johnson
1:13
yes, possibly!
1:14
I'm not aware of a swing change, but he's lifting and barreling the ball at an age we'd expect him to take a step forward.
Brian
1:14
How much longer should I hold onto Javier Baez or Nick Castellanos?
Brad Johnson
1:15
I'd stick with Castellanos a little longer. He had a swing overhaul over the winter and might need some time to digest. I doubt he's going to keep this blind man strikeout rate.
I can't muster any optimism for Baez

A leaguemate wants me to trade him deGrom and Ohtani in a H2H redraft categories league but roster restrictions won’t allow me to ask for his entire team in return. What’s my best course of action?
Brad Johnson
1:16
Laugh?
1:17
I'd go about exploring a deal for just deGrom just to see if valuations are on par.
TB Rays
1:18
Rasmussen and Springs look awesome - who is the next minor league starting pitcher the Rays develop into a stud starter - Taj Bradley ? Makes me wants Rays starters with their track record
Brad Johnson
1:18
They actually haven't been great about developing their more touted guys. Mainly due to injuries.
Springs was on nobody's list and most folks thought Rasmussen was a reliever.
1:19
McClanahan was also widely regarded as a reliever
1:20
If not Taj, Mason Montgomery seems like the next interesting guy in line
1:21
As for the fails - Baz (for now), Honeywell, McKay, can even go back to Matt Moore
Matt W
1:21
There are obviously better pitchers in fantasy, but what should we make of Ross Stripling?  Good last year in Toronto, not off to a good start in SF, and now being used out of the bullpen?
Brad Johnson
1:22
Yea, keep an eye on him. A lot of guys are clearly adjusting to the new pace of play. Most will figure it out. Some won't. If he does, he'll find his way back to streamer relevance in 12-team mixed.

Mason Montgomery
Brad Johnson
1:22
I'm not the only one thinking of him, it would seem
