Good afternoon from rainy Latrobe, let's begin
Rick

Ed,  How do you see the QB rotations going Thursday night?  Thank you.
Ed Bouchette
2:00
I would think that they'll start with Landry Jones, then go to Josh Dobbs and then the rookie Mason Rudolph. Ben, of course, won't play.
Evan from MN

Hey Ed, I’m a huge Steelers fan from MN and I just wanted to say I really appreciate these chats!  Are you concerned about the Steelers depth this year?  I know we’re only going as far as our top end talent carries us, but we seem to be thin with a lot of young/unproven backups.
Ed Bouchette
2:02
It's like that around the league because of free agency and the salary cap. it's hard to stockpile talented players. A good example -- Chris Hubbard, their fine No. 3 tackle, getting a big payday from Cleveland. He might have loved playing for the Steelers but the chance to start and make money to  boot elsewhere is too strong. I think they are thin at linebacker on defense and offensive tackle.

Hi Ed - How does Bostic look, does he look like a stud that can help us improve our run defense or just another guy?
Ed Bouchette
2:02
I wouldn't call him a "stud" and I'm not sure about the run defense until I see him really in action in games.

Hi Ed..thanks for the chats...Is there a different type of enviroment in regards to the offense with a new coordinator
Ed Bouchette
2:03
I don't notice a whole lot.
Mark from Sauquoit N.Y.

Hi Ed,  Are Steelers confident James Connor is healed and ready to go or worried he is injury prone?
Ed Bouchette
2:04
No, he looks good. I would not call him injury prone

2:04
Hi Ed and thanks for your time. At the end of camp last year there was a couple decent trades. Do you see any happening this year? if so, what position do you anticipate? Thank you Sir
Ed Bouchette
2:04
I believe they need to trade for an offensive tackle. Pronto
Michael
2:05
Ed, what is your take on Vance McDonald and his chronic injuries?  Is he unlucky or brittle?  I can’t remember someone always “sitting  in the tub” since Greg Hawthorne.
Ed Bouchette
2:06
Maybe it's just those tight ends they pick up from the west coast. Vance missed six games last season. His injury this summer is not serious
Mark
2:06
How has Quadree looked in camp? Any chance he makes the team?
Ed Bouchette
2:08
He's been catching punts, which is virtually his only chance to make it, as a punt returner who can take those duties off AB. We'll see how he returns in the preseason games because they do not have live punt drills in practice.
Adam
2:08
Why play Ben at all this preseason or for that matter AB?
Ed Bouchette
2:08
I'm with you. Not sure what one or two series in the third preseason game does for them
Scott
2:09
Ed, What happens if TJ Watt or Dupree gets hurt? They seem dangerously thin at OLB. Maybe even more so than ILB.
Ed Bouchette
2:10
I mentioned that early in this chat that's one of their thin areas. After Anthony Chickillo there is the promising Keion Adams and maybe a sleeper in undrafted rookie Ola Adeniyi

Why does Pitt come out with a depth chart that none of us believe? Why not be more accurate?
Ed Bouchette
2:12
That's coach Mike Tomlin's depth chart and he is not interested in how it looks to others. It's required he put one out, though, so he does. All of the past few years, he's had Cam Heyward as the left DE and Stephon Tuitt on the right in his weekly depth charts when it's been just the opposite.
Adam
2:12
Which player on Offense and Defense has the most to prove to the coaches and the team this preseason?
Ed Bouchette
2:13
On defense I would say Bud Dupree. On offense it would be Le'Veon Bell again.

Listening to Tunch and Wolfe on SNR, they always talk about how soft training camp is now compared to their playing days. With that said, Tomlin has been known for more “physical” training camps compared to other teams. What have been your observations concerning the amount of hitting, not necessarily compared to the “old schoolers” but compared to other teams around the league currently?
Ed Bouchette
2:15
I don't see any other teams' practices, but others who do tell me Tomlin does hit more. Those old guys always had it tougher, don't you know? I would say the individual practices that Tunch and Wolf went through weren't necessarily more physical than these days, but there were many more of them, and twice daily.

Hi Ed, How many ILB and OLB do you see the Steelers keeping? Thanks
Ed Bouchette
2:15
Nine is usually a good number
TXSTEELER
2:15
Any possible way to trade for Roquan Smith? Future 1 and a 2 or even two 1’s? Worth it considering Steelers LB issues?
Ed Bouchette
2:15
Steelers will never trade a future No. 1. Write it down.
Mark
2:16
Biggest surprise so far in camp? Any sleepers?
Ed Bouchette
2:17
Well, I did take a nap the other day. Watch for Ray Fittipaldo's story today on one real sleeper.
Retire #21

Night games at home especially mean I sell my tickets. Don't event like 4:30 games. I do remember a season when the Steelers had almost 1:00 PM local time games. They stunk the year before. Nobody wanted to watch them. I'll take the night games. Writers probably love the 1:00 games????
Ed Bouchette
2:17
We live for 1 p.m. starts.

2:17
Who is the player your looking forward to watching the most Thursday?
Ed Bouchette
2:18
Mason Rudolph without a doubt. Then Jaylen Samuels and James Washington. You know, the rookie skill guys.
Paul
2:18
Hi Ed, besides being a 2-2-7, what is a dollar defense and is anyone else in the league using it?
Ed Bouchette
2:19
The Steelers used seven defensive backs as one of their substitute defenses a number of years ago, maybe under Jim Haslett or Tim Lewis. I called it the two-bit defense.

ed, what's going on with this ab injury? is it just a reported quad and he'll be back after the philly game? or is there something more to it, either football related or something else. thx
