Good afternoon, let's begin
will from the hill
2:04
Hello Ed,  Do you think Jaylen Samuels will make the 53 man roster?  I am interested to see if he can do as well in the NFL as he preformed in college.  Your thoughts.
Ed Bouchette
2:05
He intrigues me as well. They will keep three halfbacks and a fullback. Assuming Bell and James Conner, the third spot will come from him, Fitz Toussaint and Stevan Ridley. Training camp will determine that but I do like Samuels' chances
2:07
They can afford it, but who did you have in mind who is still available? they have $5.5 million worth of cap space according to OverTheCap.com. That only counts their top 51 contracts. During the season, they must count their 53-man roster, their practice squad and anyone on IR or PUP.

Will all veterans be healthy and ready to go come July with the exception of unsigned free agent Eli Rogers? How is his ACL recovery progressing?
Ed Bouchette
2:09
I saw Eli briefly during OTAs when he paid a visit, probably to have his knee checked out. He seems optimistic but remember that he tore that in the playoff game in January and it's only been five months. They sometimes take a year. Yes, i believe everyone else will be healthy, going by today, except for the two players injured in OTA practices two weeks ago

In your opinion, will the O under Randy F be more wide open than under Haley?  I always thought that our O moved the ball way more efficiently when they took off the reins.  Haley tried to get too cute, too often.
Ed Bouchette
2:10
Randy coached the spread offense at Memphis when he was the OC, but that's a different strategy in college. I thought Haley's offense was pretty open, myself.

I'm really glad Mitchell is gone.  I was tired of his antics and bone headed plays.  Do you think we are better or worse off without him?
Ed Bouchette
2:11
Better
Greg
2:11
Do you think the new kickoff rules will make it easier or harder for Quadree Henderson to make the team?
Ed Bouchette
2:12
I believe his punt returning ability will carry more weight on that decision.

Hi Ed.  A lot of interesting storylines this summer for the Stillerz in Latrobe.  How does Rudolph adjust, Samuels at RB/HB/TE, back end of the WRs, backup NT, the ILB spots, kick returner and of course the secondary.  Which ones intrigue you the most?
Ed Bouchette
2:13
A young quarterback, especially one the Steelers had such high evaluations on, is always the most intriguing story. More so when the franchise guy is 36 years old.

Thought Bell wanted $17 a year, now reports are he wants no less than 14.5/year Is that not in the realm of what we offered him last year?
Ed Bouchette
2:14
They offered him slightly more than $13 million. His agent wanted to take it, Bell declined.

Ed, do players get timed by teams every year e.g. 40 times or other more important areas,  as it seems the players combine time stays with them forever in the press. Or do they just see from tape when a player is getting slower e.g. Mike Mitchell, Troy
Ed Bouchette
2:15
I don't know about other teams, but the Steelers do not time players. Their combine and pro day times live forever. They can tell when one is slowing down.

Do you get as excited as us fans for a new Steeler season?
Ed Bouchette
2:16
I work up to it -- AFTER my vacation ends.

ed any chance they trade bell for a stud linebacker
Ed Bouchette
2:16
No, then they would need to go get a stud running back.

Ed, is Jerald Hawkins' season definitely over?
Ed Bouchette
2:17
Yes, by placing him on IR before the final roster cut to 53, he has to stay there.

Will lev bell be in a Steelers uniform come next season?
Ed Bouchette
2:17
I believe he will sign his franchise tag on Labor Day and attend his first practice in a Steelers uniform that week.

Is it possible for Dobbs to convert to WR? I bet great athlete who's 6'3 jump well and super smart can beat out Hunter, DHB and Rodgers without breaking a sweat!!
Ed Bouchette
2:18
That is not remotely being considered
Jacob Emerick
2:18
Do you really see Big Ben playing for 5 more years?
Ed Bouchette
2:19
It depends on how he does over the next four. 35 used to be the age in which QBs declined. Now we have several over that age performing at top level. I wouldn't put it past him.
Jacob Emerick
2:19
What do you believe is a reason for the Steelers recent playoff woes the past two years?
Ed Bouchette
2:20
They really did not have any woes in the 2016 playoffs because they won two games before going to New England, losing Le'Veon Bell and losing to a strong Patriots team. I cannot explain what happened last year vs. Jacksonville other than we all underestimated the Jaguars and probably over-estimated the Steelers defense, especially without Ryan Shazier
Jacob Emerick
2:21
Biggest need for the Steelers in next years draft?
Ed Bouchette
2:21
Inside and outside linebacker.

Most exciting rookie to look for during training camp?
Ed Bouchette
2:21
The quarterback, Mason Randolph

If you weren’t in sports reporting right now, what would have ended up doing?
Ed Bouchette
2:23
I was offered a job as sports information director at Juniata College when I was 22 years old. I nearly took it. I also was offered a job as a beer salesman. I did not nearly take that. I was offered a job out of college as a news reporter with the Pottsville Republican. I considered it, but turned it down. The guy they hired instead went on to win a Pulitzer Prize for them.
