Good afternoon, let's begin
Jack

Ed, Do you make the Apple trade?
Ed Bouchette
2:01
I acquired Apple quite a few years ago and the stock has been very good to me.

Would it be to the benefit of the Steelers to use the “Non Exclusive Franchise Tag” on Bell next season?
Ed Bouchette
2:02
I believe it would benefit the Steelers to let him leave as a free agent, as I wrote they should have done back in March.

Hi Ed:  I was impressed this weekend how the Ravens used Lamar Jackson and the Saints used Taysom Hill on short yardage.  Do the Steelers ever plan to use Josh Dobbs on 3rd and
4th and 1-2 yds?  He has same size and could add speed.
Ed Bouchette
2:03
They have not indicated a willingness yet, so I would say no.
TurfToe
2:03
Please tell me there are no situations where the Steelers expect Jon Bostic to cover Njoku.
Ed Bouchette
2:04
Who would you prefer to cover him?
Deaken
2:04
Has it become clear that the loss to the Chiefs was not such a bad loss after all?
Ed Bouchette
2:05
I'm not sure there are many good losses, but the Chiefs have shown they are no fluke. However, losing to them could determine who gets a playoff seed and who does not.

I am still smiling after the Tucker missed PAT. How about you?
Ed Bouchette
2:06
I marveled at the way that game ended, as I did the Browns game

I know it is easier said than done, but there is no way Colbert and Tomlin can feel good about our CB situation in regards to winning a superbowl this season. Do you realistically think we make a move before 10/30 or just fight with what we have?? Our time is dwindling
Ed Bouchette
2:06
Steelers have never made a trade at the deadline. Just saying.
Jerry
2:07
Ed we haven't had a good corner since rod woodson. I'm thinking it's not the players. I think it's the scheme. Your thoughts
Ed Bouchette
2:07
Chad Scott and Ike Taylor might fall into the good range, but certainly neither made a Pro Bowl. I cannot answer why the Steelers cannot draft star cornerbacks. It's not like they haven't tried.
Juice
2:07
Time to sit Artie down for a while don't you think?
Ed Bouchette
2:08
I'd think for one game. Use him on special teams and let him watch.
Dave
2:08
With the Browns coming to town, what is the over/under on sacks by TJ Watt?
Ed Bouchette
2:09
Does that mean his number when the game ends, the next day or the day after that? Because he had 4 by the end of the first Cleveland game, 3.5 the next day and 3 the day after that once the Elias statisticians finished looking at the tape.
Krollburgh

ed.    If James Connor stays healthy, can he lead this team to a super bowl?
Ed Bouchette
2:09
i'm not sure about "leading" but he can be an important cog

If Bell is all about the money, and the opportunity to get paid big bucks from another squad, why in the world would he stay away for the simple fact that he doesn't want to be traded? I don't know why he would want to be back in Pittsburgh.
Ed Bouchette
2:11
Because returning to the Steelers gives him the most comfort -- he knows the playbook, the players, the coaches, the city. He also has one of the best QBs, line and receivers in the NFL surrounding him. He could not dictate where the Steelers might trade him and it might not be an ideal spot. He wants to dictate where he goes in 2019, not let someone else dictate where he goes now.

Hi Ed! If Bell doesn't show up until after the 8th game and the Steelers exempt him two games how does that affect his status for next year?
Ed Bouchette
2:11
No
Rick from Raleigh
2:12
Hey Ed, the media down here keeps saying Bell has until week 10 (I think) to sign.  That he must sign.  Why is that?
Ed Bouchette
2:12
If he doesn't sign by then, he cannot play this season, for anyone. But he still would be a UFA next year, unless the Steelers tag him again. And why would they want to?
Mack
2:13
Take Steelers tradition out of it. Do you trade a 1st Rd pick for Peterson if you are them?
Ed Bouchette
2:13
Yes
T. Lazarus Link, aka, The Bishop
2:13
Ed, all of the preseason excitement about Matthew Thomas and Ola seems like a distant memory know. Is the play of the incumbents keeping them off the field (in Ola's case, off the active roster)?
Ed Bouchette
2:15
Both were undrafted rookies. Expecting them to start at inside and outside linebacker was too much.
mr big
2:15
Is Bell waiting for the trade deadline to pass? He seems to be finding any excuse not to practice/play-
Ed Bouchette
2:16
It certainly looks that way and, at this point, makes sense.
Kris
2:16
What are the odds we make any kind of trade by Tuesday at 4?
Ed Bouchette
2:16
They have never made one at this time of year, so I would say slim.
James
2:16
Whatever happened to teaching DB's to actually tackle someone by wrapping them up bay the legs? Why do they bump the running backs, expecting them to go down? Instead, the running backs run by them or through them for a touchdown?!
Ed Bouchette
2:17
Because they've been doing it that way all through their lives and it probably worked. And it's not as cool to tackle someone by the legs.

IYO, would a field trip to a active steelmill benefit some of the underperforming players/coaches, if not all?
