Thank you so much for participating, we look forward to continue the conversation and I encourage you to email us with any questions or concerns about the registration, course selection, or bidding.

yes, if you are successful in round 1 you may not need to participate in round 2. If a course is full, all you can do in round 2 is add yourself to the wait list. That's why the first round is crucial.
Vinicius Hercos da Cunha

Can you confirm that Bid 2 will be only for courses that did not fullfil the spots in the bid 1? So, I undertand that I need to present my best offer in Bid 1 and I'm gonna participate in Bid 2 only if I didn't get my plan A in Bid 1.

You may need to rest your NetID password, but I recommend first reaching out to IT. If you have problems with your Net ID, password, or your computer, please contact the Information Technology department. The phone number is (312) 503 7000 and the e-mail address is lit@law.northwestern.edu.

Sorry to bother you again. When I try enter to the system using my student ID and CAESAR password, it says "Your User ID and/or Password are invalid".

Hi- for technical questions regarding CAESAR please contact the registrar at law-registrar@law.northwestern.edu

Hi Nell, I just clicked the link you sent and logged in my CAECSR, but found that there is no Law bidding and class schedule icon in my homepage... Is there anything wrong with my system?
AvatarAdi Altshuler

As long as you are cognizant of the required courses and make sure to bid for them, and there are only 1 required course you need to bid on, there is no danger you will not be able to graduate due to failed bidding strategy.

Hi Adi and Nell, is it possible that bad bidding strategy may result in failing the academic requirements for graduation and the NY bar? In case that happens, is there any remedy to take?
AvatarNell Novara
9:55
The system shows the final "cost" of the course at the end of each round of bidding; thus that would be the lowest number of points

Hi! I'm trying to build my bid strategy. Regarding the bidding history of the course: Is the number of points that the system shows an average, the lowest or the highest points that the students needeed to offer in the past academic years?

You can try using another browser, and also try to clean your cache before trying.

Hello! I'm having trouble to access the links you sent via email to review the fall and spring courses. Is there something wrong or it's just my problem?

Try this again: http://www.northwestern.edu/caesar/in/lawspr.html

You may want to try in a different browser, clear your cache, or use an incognito/private browser.

Hello Nell. Thank you for providing the link to the spring courses. However, I and other students outside the States cannot open the provided link. Perhaps there is an IP block on the webpage? The information for the spring semester would be very helpful for planning our course choices. Can you help to check the link? Thanks a lot.

concentrations are significant for JD students, usually because of the length of the LLM program it is not possible to complete all the concentration requirements during one academic year. There is also no mention on the transcript for concentration for LLMs.
WW
9:52
Hi Adi, is it possible for LLM students to register the program of Civil Litigation and Dispute Resolution concentration? How can we apply for it?
AvatarNell Novara

Hi- you can find detailed information about this here: https://www.law.northwestern.edu/registrar/documents/Law_Course_Instru...

Hi Nell, where can I view the bid points that each course costs per semester as you have just mentioned?
AvatarAdi Altshuler

if a course in on the law school schedule and is biddable, it counts both for graduation requirements and for the NY bar.
Heng
9:50
Thank you Nell, does all the interdisplinary courses or courses from other school count for the 20 credits of LLM program?

Hi Nell and Adi, do we have any other courses related to medical except for Medical Innovation Course?
AvatarNell Novara
9:45
No, this course is not biddable, the application will suffice. If you are accepted into the course and choose to take it, you will be manually enrolled in the course at the cost of 75 bid points per semester.
Heng
9:45
Thank you adi, and should I bid for the Medical Innovation Course? or only application is fine?
AvatarAdi Altshuler
9:45
you do not need to bid on the CLR course, because we will assign you to a section and enroll you in the course.

9:45
Thanks a lot. One of my classmates who can not take the live chat asked, for some CLR courses, can we just bid on a lower price? like 1 or 2 points?
AvatarNell Novara
9:44
We cannot say for sure when the final details will be posted, nor can we guarantee that some days/times will not change. Changes to the Spring curriculum will occur over the coming months before Spring bidding begins- these changes will not be announced, so you will need to just check the schedule to see if they have been posted.

Hello Adi and Nell. Thank you for this opportunity. I am planning my schedule and there are 2 courses I want to take in Spring but they have not publish their classes hours (Corporate Governance & Law and Social Change). When will these classes hours be published?
M

I wanted to ask if we can pursue a written dissertation or thesis, and how it works?
AvatarNell Novara
9:49
If you know you want to take the course, then yes, we recommend bidding on multiple sections; however, just know that you must bid a different number of points for each section (thus ranking your preferences). If you bid on multiple courses at the same time period, assuming that they are all good bids, the system will place you only in the course you bid the highest for and drop your bids for the other classes.
AvatarAdi Altshuler
9:43
There is no dissertation requirement, but if you are interested in engaging with research you can take Graduate Research course with a supervising faculty. This is more suitable for the spring semester, after you have completed the CLR class. Please email me and I can send you the information and also help you identify a faculty member suitable for your research project.

For courses taught by different professors (e.g. BA), would you recommend bidding on both courses? Also, what would happen if there are time conflicts among all the courses I placed bids on?
AvatarNell Novara
9:39
There are no specific "Cybersecurity" courses currently offered; however, we do have a robust offering of courses in law, technology, and innovation. You can see details about some of these courses here: https://www.law.northwestern.edu/academics/curricular-offerings/concen...
Vee
9:39
Are there any cybersecurity courses available during the Fall semester?
AvatarAdi Altshuler
9:37
Yes, it will count toward the minimum 8 credits for visa requirements.
Heng
9:37
Hi Adi, thank you for providing this opportunity. I am trying to apply for the Medical Innovation Course since it perfectly fits my previous working experience. But whether this course account for the least 8 credits courses that we shall take?
AvatarNell Novara
9:36
We cannot advise you on specific bidding strategies. This is a risky strategy but can get you into more of the courses you wish to take in the fall. The catch is that if all students employ this same tactic, all courses' costs will rise.
Ishan Ravindranath

Given that regardless of how many points I bid, I will be returned points based on the lowest bid for the last seat, is it safe to use up all my points in the first round of bidding itself to ensure that I have the best possible chance of securing the courses I would like to take? I'm just thinking out loud.. would love to know your views.
AvatarAdi Altshuler

The course has to be pre-approved by me in order to count toward your LLM degree.
