Let's start this ball rolling.

Otto 5x5 - $8 Andre Vaughn a keep, cut, trade for anything of value, hold and trade later?
Brad Johnson
3:56
I don't think he's a cut unless you're really hurting for money and can't find a trade partner.
3:57
It's not an ideal valuation
3:58
But he should also be a fast-mover so it's not like you're paying $8 now to keep Jasson Dominguez for his 2023 debut.

Rank the following pitchers as keepers? Luzardo ($8), Ohtani ($6), Lamet ($1)? Does one stand out as being a particularly better or worse deal?
Brad Johnson
3:59
We talking ottoneu? FGpts? Ohtani could be like a $70 player if everything breaks right.
If they're all on your roster, you really ought to keep all of them.
I think I prefer Luzardo to Lamet although, the $7 discrepancy is enough to go the other way if you feel differently.

In a league where OBP is swapped for AVG and K:BB for Saves, must keep 4 of these 6.  Which do you suggest?  Muncy at $15, Meadows at $10, K. Marte at $10, Giolito at $10, Paddack at $10 and Clevinger at $15?
Brad Johnson
4:00
I'd cut Muncy and one of the pitchers.
4:01
I'd have to research them more to choose but probably Giolito or Paddack. Pay attention to how they rate with K:BB. A good pitcher can be a monster in that format.

8x8 16t h2h and i want Franco and whitley to be on my team all year. Should i hold oN to that feeling or change it
Brad Johnson
4:01
I don't see an overwhelming need to cling to Whitley, but if you have him, I also wouldn't be discarding him.
4:02
8x8 is interesting as there legit aren't 8 offensive or pitching categories that can coexist happily
Deepest I've managed without severe interactive effects is 7x7, and that has to be highly optimized.
4:03
So, in other words, you're playing an extremely gameable format. You should identify precisely the best way to game those settings then trade your shiny stuff for game breaking monsters.

I just traded a $4 Villar for a $4 Sean Murphy and $3 Austin Hays in Ottoneu FanGraphs Points. Who got the better end of the deal?
Brad Johnson
4:04
Villar really ain't much of anything in FGpts. Just a standard utility guy. Niko Goodrum. Murphy has some nice upside and Hays is a cheap backup with apparent playing time.
So I like the Murphy/Hays side more.

In a dynasty league, who would you value more as a keeper at catcher Francisco Mejia or Christian Vazquez?
Brad Johnson
4:04
Well obviously Mejia
Somebody telling you otherwise?

Hey Brad! I’m in a 10team dynasty, 5x5 scoring format. I’m trying to trade Ohtani for a 1B/2B player in a 1-1 or 2-2 (with lesser pairings) deal. What caliber of MLB ready player is a reasonable return for Ohtani from these positions? Thanks!
Brad Johnson
4:06
Just a general note first. These open ended questions are great, but they're also slow to answer because I have to look up a lot of stuff.
Since I want to get to as many questions as possible, let's try to put some constraints on these like "would you trade Ohtani for Anthony Rizzo"
4:07
Now, back to the question. Why are you trying to trade Ohtani in the year before we find out precisely how valuable a 2-way star might be? Is this Yahoo where he's 2 players?
4:08
I would be asking for Cody Bellinger. Not really expecting to get him, but I'm not worried enough about Ohtani to walk away from that Top 1 upside.

Hey Brad, long time listener, first time caller.  16T H2H, keep 3 forever.  I just let Acuna go for a 1r (#5), two 3R, and a 4R.  I still have the Polar Bear, Bellinger and Mookie.  But I'm gutted by letting RA go.  Did I blow it?
Brad Johnson
4:09
That's a tough blow. I would have tried to deal Alonso or Mookie of that group, but you clearly had to move one of them.
Sadly, those constraints are pretty difficult. At least you'll get to load up on some early depth.
Should put you in a good position for 2020.

Is there any reason in standard 5x5 to avoid taking too many players from thesame team? Ive been finding twins constantly as the “best value” in my drafts
Brad Johnson
4:10
Not really. It adds a little volatility if the entire team turns sour or burns hot. But mostly it all washes out in the end.
In H2H, the volatility is felt a little more, but again, that isn't necessarily a bad thing.
4:11
In DFS, volatility is basically viewed as a positive.
I think you can argue both sides of the coin for season long. Might come down to management style.

Hellloooo Brad. Jazz Chisholm as a fantasy prospect. What’s your take on him? Thanks!
Brad Johnson
4:11
He's... complicated.
4:12
Extremely physically talented. So much swing and miss. Best outcome might be a more patient Javy Baez.
