Happy (pre-noon) Monday! Getting started just a bit early, as I have a hard "out" at 1p, and the queue is rocking. Still room to get in if you haven't asked anything, will get through as many as I can. One more plug for First Pitch Arizona... a price discount runs through this Wednesday. OK ... on to Qs!
15-Team 5x5

1.    Is Nick Loftin fantasy relevant, or should I stick with Yanier Diaz in my UT till Curtis Mead comes back?

2.    Rank ROS for wins and ratios; Rocker, Quantrill, Wesneski, Burrows, Drew Anderson

3.    Is there something wrong with Emilio Pagan? Who is the likeliest fill in closer?

4.    Better hitter next two weeks, Bryan Torres or Brett Sullivan, or pass on both and stash Ethan salas?

Thanks so much
Brent Hershey
11:57
  1. I'd probably give Lofin a try, see if there's more wave to ride for now
  2. Rocker, Anderson, Wesneski, Burrows, Quantrill
  3. Nothing that I know of ... Luis Mey has been great in that bullpen if they want to switch, though.
  4. Torres

Brent 4x4 AL only ROS will watson get saves? Angels outfield going forward? is Miller broken? christian moore ready fro everyday starts and is urquidy for real? Thank you
Brent Hershey
12:02
  1. Think Joyce is the preferred option
  2. Trout full time, then a mix of Lowe, Frazier, Siri, maybe C Moore? It's bleak, yes
  3. No, but no shade if you move on
  4. Think it's time for the Angels to see if he is
  5. If you mean as good as this past stretch - no

Hi Brent. Would appreciate your thoughts on keeper appeal for underachieving OF Evan Carter, Colton Cowser and Jasson Dominguez in 15-team OBP lg.
Brent Hershey
12:07
Carter is unplayable against LHP -- still does not have an extra base hit again LHP in his career. That seriously limits his keeper appeal for me. I like the Cowser the best of the trio; a better situation than Dominguez for sure. But ... each need to prove they can hit same-side pitching to be keeper worthy.

Thanks for the chat.  Assuming there is a 2027 season, please rank these players for a 5x5 format:  Max Clark, Jordan Lawlar, Walker Jenkins, Dylan Crews.  How about Weatherholt v McGonigle?
Brent Hershey
12:10
Lawlar, Jenkins (tho big injury risk), Crews, Clark.

McGongile > Wetherholt for me

4x4 (no-K’s). Need Wins, ERA not a real issue. Jax coming off IL.IP and pen use concerns. Look at SP stable below and next 2 starts. * I can reserve Lopez for home start.1. Cavaalli- h- Col & Miami, 2.Castillo-@LAA- H- Jays, 3. Holmes-@Ariz-H- Milwaukee 4. Jared Jones- H-STL & SFG 5.Lopez of A’s - H-Balt @Tex 6.Nola- @SEA @ Ariz (just added for Sea start) 7. Mahle Home for both Colorado & SFG. 9 of 14 starts at home. I know need to monitor but as of today, how you play8ng thus hand?
Brent Hershey
12:14
Don't say how many players you need ... but I start Cavalli, J Lopez, and Mahle for sure. Would pass on Castillo and possibly Jax too. Nola probably slightly higher than Jones (Wins); Holmes in this mix, too

Daily Roto league with traditional categories.  Replacement for Ketel this week.  Please rank-Michael Massey, Cole Young, and Z. Gelof.  Also,  open UT spot- pick up  Luis Robert or Conine?
Brent Hershey
12:16
Pretty easily Gelof  / Young / Massey in that order for me.
Conine has been great since coming back and I don't see him getting squeezed by Stowers.

Hi Brent,I am in a 5x5 10team NL only keeper league.I have an opportunity to acquire Hunter Goodman. We use just 1catcher.Do you think he will be able to repeat as a 35-40 hr hitting catcher next year. And will it be in Colorado……thank you
Brent Hershey
12:18
Yes, feel like he's one of the best power-hitting catchers out there, a separator in 1-C leagues. I don't see him leaving Colorado next season; I'd look to make this deal.

two parts...15 team keeper  8X8                                                                                           -do you drop M Bratt ,G Jump or j Kent...can both be kept 27-28                                                                                               -drop one for this season and next two ..Stowers, H Hernandez, DeLauter, Lile, J Pederson, G Conine....stats include standard plus OBP, SLG, TB+W...thank you!
Brent Hershey
12:20
Pitchers - I'm highest on Jump long-term; I'd probably make Kent the drop

Pederson would be my drop on the hitter side; platoon and age work against him when comparing to this group

Hi Brent, Thanks for answering this post. As always, any advice is appreciated.

16 team, H2H points league.

A) Beavers faces 4 LHP this week ... start him anyway or replace with Nootbaar or Lawlar or T. Hernandez?

B) Woo is a questionable starter this week - if held back replace him with: Scott or Wesneski? (Boyd & Valdez available but my 10 ft pole comes into play)

C) Are either Tyler Locklear or Kyle Manzardo keepers for 2027? Both have been sent to the minors but have reasonable salaries. Keep neither or both or which?

Thank again. These chats are always informative.
Brent Hershey
12:24
A) I'd go Lawlar, even though I like Beavers overall. Hoping he can work into a fulltime role, but hasn't just yet.

B) Scott for Woo, yes.

C) Locklear - no. Manzardo probably also no — unless he does something crazy here in September he should be very cheap next spring. One of my personal misses this year; I drafted way too much Manzardo

AL only.  Considering dropping DMartin for Bieber, Bassitt or Pecko.  Please rank the 4 ROS.
Brent Hershey
12:25
Could see it with Bieber, but no the others. Would rather keep Martin in that case.
Chadwick
12:28
NL only, saves/Holds.  Pondering the following for Holds ROS:  Santillan, RNelson, Ribalta, Hentges.  Please rank ROS.
Brent Hershey
12:28
Boy, not really good choices ... Santillan, Hentges, Nelson, Ribalta I guess. Lotsa possible volatility on that list given their teams' questionable fortunes ROS
Blondie
12:32
NL only.  KMarte vibes?  Will he play ROS?  Would you say 90% chance not going to play?  or other percent?
Brent Hershey
12:32
Feels like 75-80% that he doesn't make it back. Be careful about jumping into too much judgement too quickly, though. We don't know the circumstances he's facing.

12:39
Scoresheet NL (not the league we're both in): How do you rate Durbin compared to (older) infielders like Lindor and Machado? For whom would you give up the most in trade?
Brent Hershey
12:39
Felix! I would give up the most for Lindor - base plate skills haven't dropped off that much; "only" 32; still good shortstop defensive rating. Could see a rebound in 2027 easier than I could with Machado. Durbin to me is a more solid "floor" player than the other two, and probably more valuable in roto than Scoresheet. But his ceiling is limited.
Beano
12:41
Thanks for these chats! They are the best - which, of course, means you are the best. So there's that!
NL 10 team 5x5 - I will NOT win but might finish 3-5th.
Would you waive D Smith (average reliever who will get SF saves if there are any) to roster D Peterson of the Cubs? (he's on waivers!) I can also grab W Dion on the waiver wire...
Brent Hershey
12:41
Very kind, Beano; thank you. And yes, not a huge D Peterson fan, but more "there" than with Smith. Dion is also worth a look; there's some pretty interesting signs there. If you 3d-5th and looking towards next season, taking a 4-week shot on Dion is defensible. Good luck!

12:46
Brent, as always, thank you for doing these chats.  If you had to make a projection for me for 2027, what do you foresee?  Based on what you've seen so far, should a Fantasy owner with Walbert Urena and Jared Jones keep me instead of one of those guys next year?
Brent Hershey
12:46
I see a pretty talented SP who will likely have an innings cap in 2027; something like 130-140? He'll be brilliant in some outings and shaky in others ... but if he makes it through injury-free, could be set up nicely for 2028. I still believe in the pedigree. The Urena/Jones question is interesting, but I'd let the rest of the season play out before committing. Jones is the most secure of those three; likely the decision might come down to Jobe v Urena.
Blondie
12:47
15 team MIXED, obp league.  Please rank ROS:  JBaez, MShaw, KCarpenter, ERuiz
Brent Hershey
12:47
Gonna assume Joshua Baez here ... Baez, Ruiz, Shaw, Carp
Raider 34
12:48
Would you start either Jump or Perkins this week In Their Home park ? Don’t really have anyone else to start. Got a couple relievers I could put in there But I really need wins. Thanks
Brent Hershey
12:48
Always down to alternatives. Anything can happen, and if you need wins, you give it a shot
Blondie
12:49
IMpossible question but your intuition appreciated.... Will JBaez adjust to the adjustments that the pitchers are doing to him to be valuable ROS?  (I picked him up the day after his 3 HRs, of course).
Brent Hershey
12:49
He'll bash homers and hit like .210. Think he'll get enough mistakes and is strong enough that the power will be valuable ... but at a BA cost
Joe

Hey Brent, thanks for taking my question. I’m currently rostering Grisham NYY, McNeil A’s, Carrigg COL, Kwan CLE, and Conine MIA. Looking into your crystal ball - are any of these available players a worthy replacement for any of the above considering overall offensive production for ROS?: Tawa ARI, S.Jones NYY, Marsee MIA, Butler A’s, Holliday BAL? Thanks.
Brent Hershey
12:51
Butler for McNeil. Maybe Jones for Kwan (though those are obv different types of players)
Bill Warts
12:52
Thanks for the chat, Brent! 11 team mixed looking for a utility streamer for the week (and perhaps longer.) Any preference among Carrig, Ewing, Lombard, Suarez, Springer, Butler, Jung Hoo Lee?
