Hey all! Thanks for the questions already and/or showing up ... feel free to leave more as we go; I'll get to as many as I can.
12:02
One quick plug .... First Pitch Arizona, Oct 31-Nov. 1. Next discount deadline for registration is this Friday; things are shaping up for another memorable weekend. All details at the link above; we'll be updating that throughout the week.
That out of the way, let's roll w/ questions ...

Any hope for me ROS or in Dynasty?
Brent Hershey
12:05
Was super hopeful as that Apr+May took place. But since then ... K-BB% has disintegrated (on both sides). Really wonder if it's fastball related: FB velo slowly decreased throughout this year, but also leaving the pitch center-center. MLB hitters are going to clobber that, and they are. Still hold out hope for dynasty relevance; but I've mostly turned the page for this year. Pedigree, age and past ability to make adjustments are positives going forward.

I am in third place in a 6X6 mixed rotisserie league with a good shot at the top spot if I make the right choices down the stretch.  My problem is that I have too many good pitchers.  I know that it should not really be a problem and it can change from week to week, but I really could use some advice.  I have Grayson Rodriguez on the injury list and have to activate Max Fried and Clayton Kershaw this week or lose them under our rules.  I have Zac Gallen, Nick Lodolo, Hunter Brown, Taj Bradley, George Kirby and Robbie Ray as my starters.  I can only start six.  How would you rank them?  Thanks
Brent Hershey
12:09
I think you stay w/ your healthy six. Fried esp is a tough cut, but that supporting cast isn't what we're used to and the injuries seem to be piling up for Fried. From this vantage point probably would rate Grayson over Ray and maybe Lodolo ... but I assume you don't have to make that decision now and things will be different (trust me) once you have to make that Grayson call. Good luck!
Ratios and ERA

NL only, looking to protect pitching ratios, please rank: matsui, e phillips, Romero, vesia, Barnes, bender, brazoban, kittridge thanks ☺️
Brent Hershey
12:12
Wouldn't get too granular here ... RPs so volatile. I'd also lean good teams, just in case you can sneak in a stray win or save. So, something like Phillips, Romero, Vesia and Matsui would probably be my top 4.

Monday baseball talk! Thanks for continuing this 👍🏼 I want to ask you about Julio Rodriguez. Any concern after his golden sombrero + 1 last night? Do you still consider him a “no question” dynasty foundation player?
Brent Hershey
12:15
No concern whatsoever ... for either this year or dynasty. A down year for him; it happens (but always stinks when you're the one counting on him). Buncha time to go yet, but he could outperform what his re-draft slot value will be come 2025 draft time.

Keeper league, 6 x6 with ops added for hitters, for 2025 and beyond, Bichette or Oneil Cruz?  Speaking of Bichette, is he droppable in redraft leagues at this point?  Thanks.
Brent Hershey
12:18
Would take Cruz fairly easily, esp with the power emphasis (HR, RBI and OPS). As for Bo in 2024, would think it's more likely that he doesn't get back to form in 2024 than he does. Offseason narratives and 2025 will be pretty interesting to watch.

Brent, as popular as these Monday chats have been, is there any consideration to expand to two chats a week in the future?
Brent Hershey
12:22
Yes, has come up in the past. Would be a great way to get other BHQ staffers involved, also. Thanks for the note on this, perhaps we should consider expanding this a bit more strongly.

Do you think deGrom will have an impact in the fantasy playoffs?
Brent Hershey
12:24
If you mean by September (loosely) ... I'd say there's a decent shot he's usable, but less of one that he's an impact-level player. Just not much runway to get there anymore (impact level). Other hand, he IS a superstar ... but percentages say these guys don't just turn the switch coming back from injury.

Would you start O’Neill this week even though he’s supposed to come off the DL on Wednesday or would you go with Canzone from Seattle? Thanks.
Brent Hershey
12:28
Don't normally do this w/ "supposed to come back" guys, but  I'd take my chances with O'Neill in this instance. Mostly b/c SEA faces 4 lefties in six games this week; with J-Rod back Canzone has no realistic shot of starting against a LHP.

Morning, do you think?Dominguez gets any saves for Baltimore the rest of the year.
Brent Hershey
12:30
Yeah, I think it's possible. Would not count on him being a no-doubt guy in the 9th b/c of how Hyde is going to use guys. But given Kimbrel's recent swoon, feel like it's going to be mix/match there for a while. And when Ser is on (throwing strikes), he can handle that role.

Was waiting patiently for Del Castillo to arrive in Arizona but unfortunately, he went off with an impressive debut before today's FA bidding. Does he project for 400 AB in 2025 as DH/C combo? Is he a 20 HR bat in that park?
Brent Hershey
12:34
That's a possible outcome (400 AB/20 HR) but really too early to project at this point. He'll get some good run here for a while for all to see vs MLB pitching. Moreno will remain most-of-the-time catcher, but makes some sense to employ Del Castillo in that manner in 2025.

Two for this week and ROS....15 teamer looking for avg and obp.....W Langford, T Ward, L Butler, J Fraley, G Perdomo
Brent Hershey

Langford and Butler, with Fraley as #3

Would you rather have Musgrove or Nestor ROS?
Brent Hershey
12:38
Not a fun choice, but Nestor I think. From today's vantagepoint, not sure how Musgrove responds.

Greetings, Brent. Holding Jordan Beck and Jordan Walker in reserves. Will both grab meaningful playing time in September? Walker is heating up a bit in Memphis.
Brent Hershey
12:40
Assuming just for this year, I'd have more confidence in Walker than Beck in coming up and contributing. But even for Walker, question will be if STL plays him if they're in a playoff race. Definitely demolished a baseball this weekend, though.

Do you think Justin Martinez will emerge as the AZ closer?
Brent Hershey
12:42
No, not wholly. Think it's likely one of two scenarios: Either they work Sewald back into that spot OR they play matchups and spread out the save opps. Martinez would definitely be in that mix if it's the second, but don't think they "install" him as CL even if he's successful.

In NL only league with Holds as category, AMorejon or CHolderman ROS?
Brent Hershey

Morejon, the way SD is playing.

JBart v. FAlvarez ROS?
Brent Hershey
12:43
Alvarez for me, but could argue either.

For some reason I haven't been able to quit Morel (probably looking too much at his StatCast xstats). I've been hanging on to him mainly as a Royce Lewis insurance policy at 3B but thinking it may be time to give up the ghost, as even though the Rays seem to believe enough to bat him cleanup the results are still not there. Would you drop for Perdomo, Joey Ortiz, Caballero, Bride, or Dezenzo? Or, with those types of options out there, just free up the roster spot and plan to stream 3B if (when?) Royce goes down again? (12-team 5x5 OBP)
Brent Hershey
12:46
I'd want Ortiz over Morel, but would probably stick w/ Morel in the other cases. So tempting to hold and see what TAM gets out of him (which might not fully surface until next season). Also, pretty intrigued with Dezenzo given how HOU has employed him so far in light of their 1B struggles. Has hit RHP in the minors, so could well be he's their everyday guy going forward. Tons of rookie risk, though.

Peterson, pretty easily.

Best ROS option to round out the rotation (5x5 QS): Springs, Ryne Nelson, Nick Martinez, Martin Perez, or Festa?
