Happy chat! Tons of Qs await; so little small talk at the front. Let's dive in!

Hi! In 12-Tm H2H category … I now see that my drafted team not built to compete in SB. Would you drop Marsee for any of Daylen Lile, Dominic Canzone, Denzel Clarke, or Dylan Beavers – as a OF3/4. Please rank ROS! Thanks!
Brent Hershey
12:01
Marsee is off to a slow start, but provides much more than just SB. I’d consider keeping him over most of these four. But if you’re dead-set on dropping, Lile (best chance for full time AB) would be by pick.

Hi Brent, 10-Team, NL -Only with a chance to grab Fernandez (ARI) on our waivers tonight. Better option than my current UT Church (STL) ? Tentatively have a claim of Fernandez for Church. Thanks!
Brent Hershey
12:03
Yes, I prefer him to Church. Assuming Santana misses at least a bit of time, Fernandez's versatility should result in PT. Not without risk, but carries some late-bloomer upside.

Field of Dreams; or, Bull Durham?

Given 2D ABS is a noisy approximation of the 3D rulebook strike zone, shouldn't we be pumping the breaks a bit on system accuracy? Couldn't an ABS ball shown landing outside the 2D strike plane by .1" have clipped the front or back of the 3D rulebook strike zone volume?
Brent Hershey
12:06
It's a start. Am surprised they are showing the measurements. Think it could be explained better (have not seen much of this) to make all aware of exactly WHAT it's showing - mid-point of the plate. But yes to your question; they must not have faith in the 3D models just yet.

Brent on a scale of 1-10  10 being a lock what is the likelihood CWS draft Roch Cholowsky with the first pick in the draft? and who would you pick, thank you!
Brent Hershey
12:06
Would put an 8 or 9 on it. You just draft talent at the top, and he’d be my pick as well

Happy Monday and thank you for these chats. In a dynasty roto 5x5 with OBP I’m looking for taking some upside swings with bench spots. Who would you prefer: 1. Durbin or Vientos, 2. Cam Smith or Justin Crawford
Brent Hershey
12:07
  1. Vientos for upside
  2. Cam Smith; though like both a lot. Think Cam will roto-age better

Hi Brent, Thanks for considering this question. It's more affirmation than anything.

16 team H2H Points league. We can start only 5 SPs for the week. I plan to start: Woo, Valdes, Cabrera, Bibee (2 starts) and Bubic. On my bench are Gavin Williams, Matt Boyd and Baily Ober. Have I got the priorities right. The only real question in my mind is Bubic (vs CWS) or Williams (vs KC) or Boyd (@TB). Don't like the Boyd matchup.

I should note that QS are +8 points in our scoring, Wins and Loss are +4 and -4 points respectively. I do have a suspicion that Williams is more likely to produce a QS, though the odds are not strongly in his favour (+50% vs slightly LT 50% for Bubic).

At CI, start Manzardo, Baty or Shaw? Manzardo probably sitting vs 3 LHP this week, Baty - jammed thumb, Shaw seems best of a poor lot.
Brent Hershey
12:11
Bubic a strong winner over Gav Williams via our Matchup ratings, though both are rated positive. Trust your own gut there.

Agree; Shaw. I'm sitting Manz for now; just has not got it going yet.

Beginning of the season small sample size of course but are we worried about Bassit? He is slotted to face SanFran this week. Do we trust a two start Scherzer when one of those against the might Dodgers? Start or  this week - options to activate from bench instead are opener Grant Taylor and Kumar Rocker. Thanks!
Brent Hershey
12:13
Am a bit worried on Bassitt. Sitting where I can. Not sure if these are related (same team), but I'd have no problem with 2-start Scherzer. And yes, would go Grant Taylor over Bassitt but likely not Max.

Hi Brent- thanks for the chat!  I know it’s early, but time to sabotage drop Jack Flaherty? His velocity is down.  Is he still preferable to Mike Burrows and Grant Holmes (if you think he was)?
Brent Hershey
12:14
I'd prefer Burrows over Flaherty, but not Holmes. Inconsistency seems the biggest hurdle with JF.

Brent, AL only 4x4 rank these pitchers please ROS Messick, Ceccone, Burrows and Burke, Thank you
Brent Hershey

Burrows #1 for sure. Rest could be in almost any order ... I'll say Messick, Cecconi, Burke

Hi Brent! NL 10 team 5x5. I drafted Ozuna $9 & regret it - not just because of his opening slump but because I suspect he will be a 15-17 HR guy and not a 20+ HR guy this year. I am trying to trade him - I have Rumfield to activate and STowers on the DL so I have the bats  but the only offer I have received is J Tong (who will be $10 if he is called up). That doesn't seem like enough - does it?
Brent Hershey
12:18
Eh, I don't think it's that bad of an offer. You likely didn't draft Ozuna as a keeper, so the fact that (I agree) a $10 Tong is unlikely to be a 2027 keeper is not as important to me. Ozuna could also catch some fire later on and maybe get you to 20. BUT ... just hard to tell in PIT, b/c they it seems that MO would be an easy move-on from if they had younger guys they wanted to give a shot to. Might take this offer and move on.

What is your take on the PT split between Benson / Marte and how long until Joe Mack gets the call? Thanks!
Brent Hershey
12:26
Our lineup page ("recent player usage" tab shows that Benson is playing against every RHP and Marte is playing every-other day. So .. it's not a strict platoon on these two, but that's what I would go by when projecting out PT for now.

I think it's midseason or later until we see Mack.

I have Benson and Lockridge in my very deep NL-only league. Should I drop one of them for Tena, Tawa, Jared Young or Vivas? Who? Yes, it's a very deep league with many bench spots, and these are the best on the waiver wire.
Brent Hershey
12:27
I'd hold them both; like them better than the other options.
Ted
12:28
I'm in a 15-team points league. Looking for an extra STP and I have a bench spot. Does anyone jump out at you among Kyle Harrison, Taj Bradley, Janson Junk, Ben Brown, and Grant Holmes? Thanks.
Brent Hershey
12:28
Bradley first, then Harrison. Both highly skilled and have a current opportunity to take the next step

How do you expect the Braves rotation to evolve this year? Which minor leaguers do you expect to get a shot?
Brent Hershey
12:32
At this pace, Didier Fuentes (first) and JR Ritchie should get rotation shots by midseason. Have questions on Strider, and feel like Holmes is pitching on borrowed time. COULD work out—it's not that I'm not rostering—but feel like would not surprise me if/when an arm injury pops up for him. Elder prob gives them #5 quality stuff throughout (ups and downs)

NL 10 team 5x5 - Janson Junk has increased his fastball velocity & already exhibited good control. I've read a number of reports recommending him - what do you say?
Brent Hershey
12:32
Intrigued, yes; have seen those same reports. So hard to tell off just one start so far. This week will tell us a lot. A minimum bid on a 2-step might be worth a shot, knowing that this time next week we'll have a 30-start sample.

12:32
hi Brent - NL only - rank Rea, McGreevy, Wrobleski, Junk? and do you like any of them?
Brent Hershey
12:32
Junk - see above. I'd go Wrobleski, McGreevy, Junk, Rea. Some middling reasons to flyer up any of these guys
Rick
12:34
I'm disappointed Detroit pinch hits for Keith everytime a lefty comes in. Seen it as early as 5th inning. Any hope they let him hit against a lefty in the future?
Brent Hershey
12:34
Pay attention to this. Frustrating, but worth considering when setting lineups. We can only play with what the manager gives us.
Rick
12:35
O'brien, Sands, Baker. Likelihood they are primary closers all year?
Brent Hershey
12:35
O'Brien: good but not great
Sands: not sure MIN is worth a "primary" closer, but right now they seem to like him the best.
Baker: It's TAM, we KNOW there will not be a primary closer. He'll be in the mix, but you just need to commit to putting him in the lineup if you have him.
Rick

Reading Dustin May's velo is up, but he's getting hit hard. Do you see hope for a turnaround?. Thanks
