Monday greets, chatters! A full noontime queue, so let's hop in!

Hi! In 12-tm H2H category w OBP, my prized prospect pick, Brian Shaw, seems overmatched and Max Muncy, drafted for HRs & OBP has no HR and <.230 OBP. Desperate for 3B fill-in, any of Polanco, Rengifo, Ke’Bryan Hayes, Otto Lopez, Dylan Moore, Joey Ortiz, Kyle Farmer worth waiver wire pickup? Please rank any that are? Thanks!
Brent Hershey
12:05
Would keep the faith with the veteran Muncy, especially with that COL staff on tap this week. Too long of a track record. Can see moving on from Shaw — but do remember we're still just 15 games into the season. Rengifo or Ortiz could give you some more stability there.

Hi Brent! NL 10 team 5x5- early injuries have left me with Chad Patrick & T Williams on my roster. Any reason I should hold onto either one? (I do think Milwaukee does wonders with Chad Patrick “types”)
Brent Hershey
12:06
For the reason you state, I might give Patrick a bit of a look in a deep NL like yours, yes.

Thank you Brent! 4x4 AL only keeper league. i just read BBHQ on Vargas for CHI WS. do you agree buy low target?
Brent Hershey
12:08
PT is king in "only" leagues; so in your case I think it's worth a consideration. Especially with those Statcast metrics (realizing those are small sample, too) backing it up.

12 Team, AL-Only 4X4: MJ Melendez and Joc Pederson have given me nothing, zilch, and nada so far.  Is there any hope?  Also, what do you think about Wesneski at home against the Padres this week?  BTW...love these chats...thanks!
Brent Hershey
12:11
Our Matchup numbers like Wesneski quite a bit this week. I'd be more inclined to hang onto Joc than MJ at this point (again, track record). For a lot of these guys (slow starters w/ a better history), benching—but not cutting—them is preferable if that's an option.

Thank you for doing this!  I value these chats!  Mixed 15 teamer with saves/holds; need to drop one:  Payamps or Bummer ROS?  And whoever wins that one or MTauchman?
Brent Hershey
12:12
I'd drop Payamps in this case, and probably keep Bummer over Tauchman — but that one is clearly more needs-specific.

I cannot have 2 CHW hitters, right?  And on DL now to boot.  ABenintendi or MTauchman ROS?
Brent Hershey
12:12
Beni, easily.

Is Boyle going to be in TAM rotation soon?   In AL only league with Ks:   Boyle or Wesneski ROS?
Brent Hershey
12:14
Have a hard time seeing it, given that it's not like his minors #s were great so far. I'll bet this was a one-off and he gets optioned out later this week. Wesneski ROS; Boyle has to prove he can through ENOUGH strikes to win some sort of regular job; Hayden already has one.

AL only saves/holds with Ks league:  IHamilton or GSpeier?
Brent Hershey
12:14
Hamilton.

12:15
What do the Giants do with Hayden Birdsong? He's not doing much for my team in long relief, but he would be an interesting starter. Does he get a slot? Thanks.
Brent Hershey
12:15
Sure he gets a shot, pitching like this. When that is.... is the question. But pitchers, ya know ... they break. If you can hold all depends on your league rules

AL only with SOLDS:  Schreiber or DLynch ROS?
Brent Hershey
12:16
Lynch ... don't really see him getting saves, but has been dominant  since last September and maybe he ascends to a trusted setup guy?

Speculating that Canha is going to come back and get a 80% PT ROS in that KC OF/1B desert of hitting.  Wishful thinking?
Brent Hershey
12:19
Yes, given Canha's 1) age; 2) skill level; 3) younger KC alternatives, even though most have failed so far. Canha's a spare part.

Do you think Meidroth could be a good ROS replacement for Cronenworth?
Brent Hershey
12:20
I think Meidroth is going to play a ton unless he completely falls on his face. Don't think he'll give you J-Crone level of production power-wise (I realize how silly that sounds), but should have AB. Different skill set/type of player.

For this season only in 5x5, please rank Joe Boyle, Matthew Liberatore, Tylor Megill & Jake Irvin
Brent Hershey
12:21
Tylor Megill <Grand Canyon-sized gap> / Irvin / Liberatore / Boyle

12:22
Hi Brent. I need some K's and wins in my shallow 5x5 NL only league. I'm trying to choose a strong FAB bid on Brown, Liberatore or Priester. Which one do you think provides the best opportunity to help my team for the rest of the year?
Brent Hershey
12:22
Brown has the highest upside by far; that's what you should be chasing in a shallow league. But don't get too attached if it goes bad; cut and move on.
Sandy
12:24
Does Michael Busch fully break out this year?
Brent Hershey
12:24
"Fully" needs a definition; lol. But in terms of the early going—both  results and underlying contact quality — the answer might be "yes".
Dylan Crews
12:26
What are the chances I turn this disaster start around?
Brent Hershey
12:26
Better than some other rooks who are struggling, because 1) prospect pedigree; 2) WAS has not shown signs of giving up on you so far. They should provide ample leash.
Vincent
12:28
Hi, Brent! I have a few quick-hitters for you ...

  1. This year: Shane Smith or Joe Boyle?
  2. Is it Abner Uribe time? If so, can he keep the role?
  3. Jackson Holliday will be good one day ... right? Do you promise?

Haha, thank you, as always!
Brent Hershey
12:28
  1. Smith. Love what I've seen so far.
  2. Yes, and yes. One of my favorite CL in waiting; has that closer "look" to me.
  3. Absolutely.

Good morning, Brent and HQers!

I have a dynasty question. In my 12 team perpetual keeper league (H2H/ROTO), I'm blessed to have an "extra" OF named Michael Harris II and have my eye on Matt McLain ... who could be a long-term 2B option at a rather unimpressive position. Would this be a fair swap? Categories are AVG/OBP/SLG/R/RBI/SB.

Thank you!
Brent Hershey
12:29
This seems like a fair swap on value, and if it's meeting a team need of yours, it sounds like a no-brainer.

Good Monday, Brent!  In a holds/saves league where K - BB also counts, I'm needing to start three of the following five for this week:  Duran, Bautista, Yates, Hodge or Weaver.  A little help is greatly appreciated!
Brent Hershey
12:32
Duran, Bautista and ... Weaver, b/c of the 7G week. More opps to help you.

Happy Monday Brent, 5X5 16 team redraft, Your thoughts on Minny closer Jhoan Duran. Will he ever get that elusive 1st save soon and will he get to 30 this year?
