Happy Friday, everyone! We've got a nice queue of questions, let's jump right in...
Dynasty Addict

Is Shane Smith worth the investment in QS dynasty?
Ray Murphy
12:04
I think the hype train is a little over-revved here. Couple of good starts, and the SwK is promising for sure... but 5 BB/9 K in 11.2 IP isn't going to sustain a 1.54 ERA. Dynasty flier, sure, I can get behind that. But I'm not rushing to grab him for this year.

In a FAB league, how much fab should I spend on
Tyler Soderstrom. $100 budget
Ray Murphy
12:07
So much to like here... obviously the power output is the headliner here, but ct% is up from what we've seen before (and that's more trustworthy in 50 PA than other metrics like xPX, which is also pretty), plus Sutter Park is looking like a nice environment. Needs to stay healthy, but... I might bid 30-35.

What's up with the Reds?  They have a shortage of really good bats, but a plethora of guys they seem to want to play.  Does Noelvi get a shot?  Is he even better than the other guys they have?
Ray Murphy
12:09
Just talked about Noelvi and the Reds with PD on today's HQRadio, coming later today. Noelvi started hot in AAA, which is good to see. Candelario and CES aren't doing much, but still McLain's going to be back next week, Hays isn't far behind, Will Brennan coming soon too. I think CES and Candelario get more rope. Noelvi probably just getting a quick taste this weekend, but if he goes back to AAA and keeps hitting, maybe he's back soon for a longer look.

Is T Walker for real?
Ray Murphy
12:11
27% h%, 100% strand. Not sustainable. He's faced the Rockies and the banged-up Braves lineups. Velocity and SwK are both up a bit, which is encouraging/suggests he's healthy. But regression looms for sure....

Deep NL-only 5x5. Do you like Priester as a useful add? I hear his mph is up 1.0.  Also, do you think Ed. Diaz (NYM) is going to right the ship soon, or is something wrong?
Ray Murphy
12:13
I was sort of intrigued by Priester this winter, and early March noises from Sox camp were positive. I don't think they gave up on  him, either... that was a pretty stout return that they got from MIL, who were obviously desperate for SP. MIL develops pitchers well, so still a good spot for Priester. Deep league only, but I'd take a cheap look.

Diaz was just fine for four outings until he blew up the other night. Wouldn't even worry unless/until that happens again.

Have Roupp, Megill NYM, Meyer, Hicks and Zebby Mathews ( stashed) in 15t 4x4 Roto league  (no strikeouts) keeper league all priced low. We keep 10 pitchers, one always on bench.
I have Strider looking like he will be active next week. So need a cut. Who? Hunter Brown, Schelly from Braves are in front of above mentioned guys so my SP is deep. Also have McClanahan on IL. my depth is why I think I can keep Mathews and wait for him. I see very good things for him going forward. I am torn to give him up or one of the guys mentioned in 1st sentence.
Ray Murphy
12:15
I'd toss one of the SF guys. Agree that Mathews is worth holding.

H2H Daily OBP.  Waited too long to fill 3B. Options are now Paredes, McMahon, McKinstry, Urias, Morel.  Please rank.
Ray Murphy
12:16
I'm disappointed that Morel hasn't gotten going yet, but for now I think he's still my choice from this list.

Gavin Williams in a QS league. Worth the investment? Can also get Kikuchi, T. Walker, M. Parker, or J. Hicks. Make a change?
Ray Murphy
12:17
Gav and Kikuchi well above the other options here.

Thoughts on Easton Lucas?
Ray Murphy
12:20
He didn't get much love in our Callup Report, which is always the first place I look for these new arrivals when I'm not familiar. That said, I watched his game at BOS the other day and he looked very good. Not saying I'm rushing out to get him, but he's at least on my watch list.
Talisker
12:21
AL only, standard rotis, I need a starter, please rank: Wesneski, Shane Smith, Easton Lucas, Jack Leiter. Thanks!
Ray Murphy
12:21
I've mentioned two of these guys already, and Leiter's on IL (for now). Haven't mentioned Wesneski today, but he'd be top of this group for me.

Ray, thank you for your help!  AL only 4x4 Keeper  please rank ROS season 1. M Montgomery, Uceta,Joyce,Erceg  for saves 2.Kikuchi or D  Festa 3. Dezenzo or France 4. Misner or Canzone. Appreciate all your assistance for us!
Ray Murphy
12:24
  1. Really tough to handicap these. Good mention of Erceg on the site today. Estevez's skills don't scream "job is locked down".
  2. I'm willing to be patient with Kikuchi, let's see what Festa shows today.
  3. France is at least playing a lot more. This article was a very bad sign for him, but he's HR'd since then... as Ryan said in that piece, they're all snap judgments. Speculator caveat, etc.

A. Uribe, J. Duran, A. Bender, Fairbanks, and S. Miller.  I can keep 2 of these RPs. Who will give the best ratios and SOLDs?  Also, is Matz trustworthy to not kill ratios?
Ray Murphy
12:26
I think/hope Duran gets back to form soon, and Baldelli stops messing around with his role. Uribe has looked excellent so far.

I wouldn't trust Matz for anything other than league-average filler when healthy.

Will Sugano help or hurt ROS?  Same with Severino.
Ray Murphy
12:29
I think what we've seen with Sugano so far is consistent with the scouting reports. Low ceiling, low K%, etc. Would prefer Severino, but mentioned Sutter Park above... that's shaping up as a tough place to pitch and survive.

Are we worried the Braves offense have all regressed en mass or is this just a slow start?
Ray Murphy
12:30
They're just so beat up, have we seen the real Braves offense? At least Murphy is back now, Acuna will be there eventually. The Riley/Olson/Albies/Ozuna/Harris core is still good/will come around. The bottom of that lineup looks like it will be pretty weak all year tho.

I notice BHQ has PA for Trey Sweeney at 350.  Should it be almost twice that now?  if so is he a 15/15 guy?
Ray Murphy
12:33
He's at 50% proj PT, he's played against every RH so far... so yeah, there's room to bump him from 50 to 65% or so if that usage continues. Current proj is just 9/9, that adjustment might get him to 11/11 or so. It's all gusts of wind from there to 15/15.

Geraldo Perdomo has really cut his K rate, but it's still early.  Sustainable?
Ray Murphy
12:33
It's interesting... making tons of contact and swinging harder per Statcast. That's a fun combo that suggests maybe we should re-evaluate our priors on him.

I picked up Hye Seong Kim at end of NL draft, not knowing he did not make the team (but we have 10 player DL/minors).  What is your take on him?  Even if he gets called up, will he play 80% of the time?  So is he a hold?  or just move on?
Ray Murphy
12:37
Saw a note this week that Kim is playing some CF in minors. Does that make him closer to a callup? Honestly not sure. Don't love him as a hold unless you're fishing for SB, but not sure what you're comparing him to. Wouldn't be overly attached, at least.

Have Nimmo in 2 leagues and he is killing me. Are there any signs of a rebound?  Conforto and Roden are available.
Ray Murphy
12:39
It's April 11th, nobody is "killing you". For vets who seem healthy, just have to be patient. Nimmo struck out a bunch in first week but has cut that down nicely since. Breathe.

Is Aaron Bummer the first Lefty out of the bullpen (as I was hoping) or is it Dylan Lee?  (In a saves/holds league -- not sure if I should hold on to Bummer... but probably should as it is early).  Your take?
Ray Murphy
12:40
I think it's Lee at least until Bummer stops walking guys. Unless you're in a super-deep league, just churn these guys until you land on a set who are throwing well. No point in waiting for Bummer to fix whatever's wrong, there are likely 12 guys like him in your FA pool.

Any impression of what PHI will do with Painter?  Will they bring him up with any SP injury?  I tend to think this is wishful thinking... but hope anyway.  (I tend to think Luzardo will be hurt any day now too.)
