Tarang, it is possible, but we can't guarantee it if your application is already under review at the time the letter is received. Then it is totally up to the program.
Tarang
10:44
Okay, thanks for that update! But if the 3rd LoR is given after 15 Nov, will that be considered as a part of the application process?
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir
10:41
Hi Tarang. We do have to have at least two of the letters of recommendation in by the Nov 15 deadline, along with all other materials, for the application to be considered ready. If you have at least 2, even if you may have added 3 recommenders, that is fine.
Tarang

Hi Will, good morning. I have applied for the MSE in CIS graduate program. My application is complete, except for one LoR. I wanted to confirm whether all the LoRs need to be submitted before the early deadline(15th November) for the application to be considered within the early deadline? So basically, can the LoR reach after 15 November?

Hi Will, good morning.
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir
10:39
That's quite ok. The deadline is the same as the application deadline.
Ivy
10:39
Sorry to bother you again. One of my recommender just asked me about the recommendation letter's deadline, do you know when it is?
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir

You are quite welcome, Ivy. Have a great day as well.

Thank you so much for your help! Have a wonderful day!

Pablo, I can definitely say that it won't hurt your application. However, without knowing all other aspects of your application, one cannot say how much it will assist your candidacy.

Hi Will, how are you? Is there any advantage in the application process, for applicant with work experience in leadership positions? (I'm applying to Systems MSE)
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir
10:33
Ivy, that's quite alright. You do not need to send us official transcripts unless you are admitted and choose to attend.
Ivy
10:33
I forgot to ask about official transcripts, should I be requesting an official transcript from my school now? Or should I wait till it is needed from Penn?
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir
10:30
Ivy, that sends your recommender a request to write and submit the letter of recommendation. We recommend doing this as soon as possible, to give them time to complete the letter.
Ivy
10:30
Thank you!! One last question, what exactly does "Submit Recommendation Request" do? Would you recommend me submitting them right away.
Ankit Bhawsar
10:28
Thank you sir

Deepika, they are really reviewed both in order of completion and grouped, after the deadline. Some of our programs have already begun to review applications, others will wait until after the deadline, when all applications are in.

Just curious. Are applications reviewed in the order of submission or the order of completion (with LoRs etc.)? :)
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir
10:28
Ivy, Dean's Honors List definitely counts. Congrats on that! And we do ask that you request your official GRE scores to be sent to Penn. However, we do begin reviews based on the unofficial scores you list on your application, so we don't have to have the official scores before the deadline.
Ivy
In the "Academic Background" section, it asks about any fellowship and honors I received, does Dean's Honors List count in this case? And for GRE, should I request my official score to be sent to Penn before I submit my application or afterwards?
10:27
Here are my questions for the application form:

Thanks Will for your quick response 😀

Ankit, it is possible to take some of those courses as electives. You can also apply to do two masters programs, beginning your 2nd semester, so you could potentially do the CGGT master's AND the CIS master's.
Ankit Bhawsar
10:25
Another question, if admitted to the CIS program, is it possible to take courses from the graphics and game technology program?
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir
10:26
Ivy, their are two main differences - 1, if your application is complete by the early deadline for those programs, you'll receive your decision either on Jan 15 or Feb 15. 2 - There are usually less applicants for the early decision, so the admission rate trends higher.
Ivy
10:25
Hi Will, one thing is what is the main difference between the early application and the late application?
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir
10:24
Have you applied to other schools?

Hi Ivy, what are your questions?
Ivy
10:23
Hi, I am in the process of applying for the MSE Data Science program here, and have some questions about the application form.
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir
10:23
Hi Avijeet. We don't recommend using the same LoRs, but if you'd like to, you would need to do two things. On the second application you submit, you'll need to put in the details for your recommenders, and then select "NO," to the question, “Will this provider be submitting the letter of recommendation online?”. Once you submit the 2nd application, you'll need to send an email to admissions2@seas.upenn.edu, telling us you'd like to use the letters from your first application for your second one.
Avijeet

If i want to apply in MS in CS and MS in robotics, do i need to send different LOR's or same application would work?
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir

We avg 44 the last two years for the Robotics program.
