Welcome to tonight's NFL draft chat. Let's get the chat started.

I REALLY hope no QB is selected in round 1 and Steelers address their biggest weakness - DLINE.  Trade up for Davis!  Will anchor our line for the next 8 years. If not, grab a WR that will play.  If they grab Willis or Ridder (ugh), will throw my remote.

I think a lot of people feel the way you do, Zamo. But they've done a lot of work on QBs. That doesn't mean they're definitely going to take one at 20, but it seems like a distinct possibility.

Is it 8pm yet?!

Hey folks, I'm here too. Ray and I are coming to you live from Steelers headquarters on the South Side. Not fortunate enough to be in the war room, though.

Yes!

Why would the Ravens take Jordan Davis, if he is available?  They were in the top 3 in the NFL against the run last year (depending on what stat you use) and have other positions of need. Yet it seems like many people think the Ravens will take him if he is there.

I'm here too, gang.

They value a lot of the same things the Steelers do - large, athletic humans.

What are chances Wyatt goes before Davis?
Ray Fittipaldo
8:03
I think Davis goes before Wyatt, but there is still some debate about how Davis' skills will translate to the NFL game.

Gerry picked Jordan Davis. They are going to have to trade up. What will it cost to jump ahead of Ravens for that?  Furthermore, if they do have to pay anything significant, why wouldn’t they just grab that QB all the “experts” predict?
Ray Fittipaldo

To trade up to 13 they'd have to give up No. 20 and No. 52 and probably get a fifth-rounder in return. Not worth it to me, but hey maybe they feel like he's a generational type of player. Colbert said the other day they don't care what the cost is if they feel like they're getting a player who can help them win a Super Bowl. And he brought up Santonio Holmes and Troy Polamalu, two guys they traded up to acquire.

Hello boys.  Besides QB, WR, and DL, where could the pick 20 be?
Ray Fittipaldo
8:08
Maybe a DB.

If Willis and Pickett are gone by no.20, will the Steelers take a DL? Assuming Davis will be gone, what about Wyatt or other top DLs?
Brian Batko
8:09
I like Devonte Wyatt as a player, but he's already 24. Plus there are rumors that he has more off-field issues in his past than has been reported, which has some teams scratching him off. Not sure if the Steelers are included in that.

Is my job in jeopardy tonight?

You'll know in three hours.

How amazing would it be if we traded back and got 32 and 34 from Detroit ... This is the prelude to a perfect draft IMHO
Brian Batko

That'd make for a long night for us, so I'll pass on that.

If you were Malik Willis, would you want to come to the Steelers?  Shaky OL.  Limited WR options.  Tomlin has never developed a QB (Rudolph for instance).  Canada!  Most of the fans and local media seem to be against picking him.  Just sounds like a recipe for a disaster for a guy who quit on Auburn to play at a lower level the last time things got tough for him.
Brian Batko
8:12
Sure, I'd sign up to be a top-20 pick in this uncertain QB class. As for Willis transferring from Auburn to Liberty, I've been thinking about that since Mike Tomlin talked up running to competition, etc. Then again, he also talked up potential/ceiling over floor, which would be a point in favor of Willis.

Besides TE which positions are off the board the next 3 days?
Adam Bittner
8:12
My picks for the night:

Should be: Jordan Davis
They probably want: Malik Willis
They'll probably take: Desmond Ridder
Ray Fittipaldo

I'm not sure RB is a big priority.

If Goodell had come out on stage all by himself -- would the boos still be going right now? (I vote yes)

Willis, Pickett, Davis or Jameson Williams. Otherwise trade back.
Ray Fittipaldo

What about Hamilton?

I want Matt Corral # 1 I believe Picket will be gone and I don't like Willis. What say you?
Brian Batko
8:14
One thing I've noticed about Matt Corral, while you rarely see him ranked above Pickett and Willis, those who believe in him REALLY believe in him. Food for thought.

what Channels can I watch the draft
Adam Bittner
8:15
ESPN, ABC and NFL Network are all doing shows tonight.
Ray Fittipaldo

They'd have to eat $6.1 million in a dead cap hit if they did that.
Ed in Carrick
8:16
Hamilton won’t last
AbTennessee
8:16
I’d like Corral at 32

Count me in the minority, but I wouldn't mind a road grading tackle early in the draft. Chuks got a one year deal and Najee could be that much better with a good line.
Ray Fittipaldo
8:16
For the answer above about the dead cap hit.
Brian Batko

Travon Walker is the No. 1 pick. Maybe the most unknown guy to go 1-1 since ... Eric Fisher?

If they trade up for a player, I hope it's Jordan Davis.  Trade up to 13 with Houston to pick him ahead of the Ravens and Eagles.
